We've managed to secure a fixture at Riverway next year against the New Zealand touring team (admittedly its the Golden Oldies team warming up for the Harrogate festival but it is an INTERNATIONAL fixture !!) so don't take the piss !! They must be good though.....wonder if Lance Cairns, Jeremy Coney or Richard Hadlee are turing out ?? Bit of a coup anyway !!

I'm not a football fan but didnit Udinese (italian serie A) play at Stafford Rangers about 25yrs ago?.........

I don't recall Sri lanka playing Milford, they may have done, but in a warm up game for the 1982 World Cup, Bangladesh played Stafford CC at the Hough...

Perhaps that is it, but it seems a further in the past to me, late 70s, maybe. Although I can find no reference to 'my version' anywhere.

There's a book in the archive department at the borough Library (name of book escapes me - a pictorial history kind of book) and in a sports history section it has pix of the day. I've been meaning to take copies and post them in our archive. Will do that on the next 24 hours (for any anoraks that are interested) We as a club appear to have no record of the day other than minutes of meetings leading up to the event ! Just checking on the exact date.......it may actually not have been world cup but another ICC event ....

The Prudential Cup was a year later, India beat West Indies by 43 runs...
