There will be more of this throught the local press once the www.riverway-events.co.uk website is up and running next week but for summer 2010, the club are looking at re-launching the Freedom Caravans Cricket League (or at least a similar format) aimed at midweek evening cricket for people who don;t play regular weekend cricket. If this is something that interests you feel free to get in touch...
Also looking at setting up a mixed rounders league....again if you or som pals fancy getting involved, get in touch....

Having taken part n the old league, I heartily recommend this re-incarnation of the format. Good fun, played in the right spirit. (With plenty of the latter available at the end!) Can't remember if we ever won, but it didn't seem to matter!

I do remember a comforting lack of Aussies!

Having read the whole thread i know not how to reply.......however....

Firstly, the we are looking to ressurect the Freedom Caravans League for 2010 to give lads (and ladettes) who don't play weekend or competative cricket a chance to play.....We already have 3 "teams" who are interested in competing. Its doubtful it will be as big as what the old league became but if we can get 5 or 6 teams interested then its worthwhile....We have a sponsor whose interested in supporting the idea and all games will be played at Riverway. When the www.riverway-events.co.uk website is finished (currently in a "beta" version) we will be going to the local press to launch the midweek league idea. We'll then see if theres enough interest to take it forward. In the meantime, anyone reading this thread who thinks they can raise/organise a team, please email us on info@riverway-events.co.uk.

In terms of rounders, we currently mark a pitch out for Brooklands school at Riverway in the summer ! This got us thinking and wondering if anyone played rounders in Stafford !? Without banging on about Riverway, we have 12 acres of green green grass down there so why not get some Press on the matter and see if we can get something going ?! Does anyone know if rounders is played anywhere else in Stafford ? Again, if in the meantime anyone knows anyone who might be interested in forming a team to play in a potential league (or even just for fun) get in touch on the address above...

cheers

At school I was a mean 4th base (I was the only one in the team who could catch!) I'd be interested in playing, definitely! Not sure if I can still hit the ball though, as like most people I haven't played since school.
