If we club together, maybe we could afford one of these - https://www.gov.uk/commercial-sale-of-type-22-frigates ?

No idea what the reserve is, though.

An excellent idea! Let's have a whip-round.

I do like the look of the Campbeltown:

It would look smashing with the Stafford Forum logo painted down the side. :stafford:

That's also Campbeltown in 'my' picture. If we do manage to buy it, but find that it doesn't work too well, we could always run it into St Nazaire and blow it up on March 28th....

..although, last year would have been a better anniversary - round figures and all that.

What a fantastic idea - lets put it to SBC & ask if we can moor it in the town centre, it would provide a superb tourist attraction, plus we could use the radar to track the traffic wardens! :)

That photo just made my other half's day :strange: he said on his family holidays as a child (in the 70's??) when they saw the ship mast all the kids knew they were nearly there :)

We used to have boats available from the Brine Baths..

..and the New Inn (now Essence of the Orient)..

..prior to the 'improvements'.

And we were assured, prior to all the work on the river (1977? 78?) that we would be waterborne once more. A promise as watertight as the one from the bank when I arranged a mortgage on my first flat: "The beauty of an endowment policy is that you'll have enough left over to buy a boat."

Ah endowments...

Lies, lies, lies... in my opinion of course.

Sorry OT!

Just remembered when Sainsbury's had a "Trolley Bay" from where I used to send holiday
postcards. We could perhaps moor it there.
