Anybody else who started @Stafford at the end of 1999? Let's see how many of you there are...
i started in 1997 (just before blair got in, so i still got a grant and didn't pay any fees!) and graduated 2003 :D

and no, i didn't get a MSc or anything good - i just managed to stretch my BSc out that long lol..

I wanna go back but trying to get help and support re: PostGrad courses from FCET is like trying to squeeze blood from a stone.

Whoop to anyone that was in what was formally known at the School of Engineering and Advanced Tech.

:yay:

"formerly known as"? my degree came under the school of engineering, so i spent most of my time hanging round those dodgy old labs!

I agree with tech monkey. I don't find the bars around here intimidating at all but then again I'm a Staffordian born and bred. I have worked in some of the roughest pubs in town (and loved it). If you go into a pub, act confident(not cocky), say hello and you'll find people will be quite pleasant. I was a biker so hung around the local biker pubs. These aren't really existant nowadays but some of the old bikers are (they just couldn't grow out of it). Nowadays I'm a respectable(almost) mum and if my children knew half the people I knew and did half the things I did I would NOT be happy.

Uh-huh... and what are you basing this (incorrect) assumption on?

Say what you like about Stafford, but it's definitely not a country.
You knew what I meant to say, so the use of the word seems legitimate enough.

i think we've got to bear in mind that tapok is only 19
And this makes my opinion irrelevant, does it?

i predict that tapok wont be very popular on here
Woe is me.

apparently you have no sense of humour, and think everything anyone says or does is done with the utmost sincerity..

Tapok - I have to laugh! No sooner do I remove your somewhat rude comment on the Stafford Song YouTube page do I see that you have joined the Forum! Welcome, Tapok, and may your posts be plentiful and entertaining!
Thank you, Sofa, you are a gentleman. My posts are not sweetened or dressed up in any way - I say only what needs to be said. Such is the way of the internet. And, as I am doing it in a non-sweary, non-trolling, non-moronic manner, I don't think that having an opinion that counters that of the majority here voids the comments. Thank you for recognising this.

As for my original post, I feel it has been taken as slightly more negative than it perhaps deserves. I was merely mentioning that it is not the greatest. I do seem to remember mentioning that it not (by any measure) the worst, however. Ho-hum.

you have the same username in various places, spanning various years, and all your profiles state your location as stafford.. the internet is full of information if you know where to look :strange:

anyway.. apart from a few heated responses from members who feel very strongly about this little borough, it's not like you've been slated for voicing your opinion! hope you haven't taken any of the rebuttals personally, and it doesn't put you off contributing :)

Congratulations on being able to google search somebodys username, you pass with flying colours. However, the exam board requires you to resit the common sense exam, for information on a persons location on the internet can and does change, espesially when they are on the internet as much as I am. I have recently moved back to Stafford from a place not so far away, if this knowlege must be known. How long I shall remain here remains to be seen.

Not at all, I've had responses far more "heated" than this before. In fact, I've been in arguments that make this look tepid.

EDIT: WOW MINUS STAFFORD POINTS!

all i said was "you haven't lived outside stafford for any length of time".. i stand by this - unless i have misread the information you have online, you have merely lived in nottingham (or similar) for a couple of years.. ergo, "you haven't lived outside stafford for any length of time"..

anyway - i wasn't saying your opinion was invalid in any way! i was merely trying to put your opinion in perspective for some of the older users, who were posting some quite heated response in this thread..

[pedantic]That of course depends on how you define "any". [/pedantic]

touché.. my point would have been stronger for the inclusion of the word "significant"..

i doff my hat to your excellent use of forum pedantry :haw:

hmm

Cue chin scratching moment
is this just antagonism for the sake of it with a kind of "teflon" approach to the fact that via the interweb we can say and do what we like ? I am certainly one for a bit of fun BUT there is a limit mate !. It's clear as clear as day you are obviously a man for a virtual ruck as shown by your post ..bit childish and cowardly don't you think?

Although of course you enjoy it ..or you wouldn't do it would you ? Oh and by the way I'm an expert at virtual rucks having had more than my fair share in the past.

I kinda grew up eventually tho ..if you catch my meaning it comes to all the flamers and "haters" ...as the Americans call them ...Eventually at some time it happens . How it comes to us is ..well we eventually get made an example of in whatever forum we are deliberately being antagonistic in .This hurts a lot virtual or otherwise . Course if you can hack it "fill your boots" it's bitersweet tho let me tell you . When we travel through life we learn pretty soon that life is more fulfilled and even enjoyable if we get on with each other rather than deliberately wind each other up. Most of us don't know our next door neighbours and can say little about the people who live on the same street as we do. If you think about it ,in a society which is persistently doing its best to alienate people from each other . It's nice when some people are willing to stretch out a virtual hand of friendship with a common interest to try to break with that .

So if its for that and that reason alone you should encourage not rubbish the people who do that then for goodness sake get off your "this is what i think so I'm going to make sure I tell everyone " high horse and back the people who do .

Or ..if I might refer you to my recent post .."bog off" and wind up some other forum of your choice not ours .

Frankly dude ( not that it would bother you which is obvious) I for one am not impressed not that my opinion isn't already clear to you already .As already proved in recent posts I'm not as polite as everyone else on here and call it as I see it . My opinion of course is my own but it's an honest one .

It Would be nice if you felt like defending your negativity you might explain why you joined the forum ?Bearing in mind its main purpose is that it's doing it's best to make people feel proud about themselves and the place they live .Further you could try to justify your reasons for your approach to this forum and indeed the town . Equally you might explain why you have done nothing but rubbish those that do care and want to get involved with this

If you like provocation for the fun of it so much I have a huge wasp nest in my shed ..we think theres about 5000 wasps in it please pm me so you can come and have a poke at that too .

Or perhaps better it might be nice if you gave the forum something rather than trying to take away all the good vibes that people are trying to put into it .

Twas September of good old 89 when I arrived here from the glowing metropolis that is Preston. I've only ever been back there about 6 times.
