Stafford power cut

Just drove down the Wolverhampton Road towards the Esso/Tesco petrol station – traffic lights and street lights weren't on and homes were without power. Then I passed the train station and that was in total darkness. I think trains aren't allowed to stop at Stafford train station either. Weird.

That reminds me, I was in town Wednesday afternoon and most of the north side shops were closed due to a power cut

basil

don't mention the blinds
Reminds me of the miners strike early 70's, the MEB (cafe Nero) posted power-cut timetable on the door......

New card on the way.

I see that a lot of Gaolgate Street is currently(!) without electricity - I wonder if anybody is imprinting from embossed cards, as a result?

Was it off both days?

Was Caffe Nero not Radio Rentals?

..with the MEB (almost) next-door?

No, I've got my days mixed up. It's been a long week.
It was Tuesday and it was the top shop/ sports direct/ British heart foundation end.

If it's a long week and it's only Tuesday.....

It was dark down to Crabbery Street when I saw it.

I stepped off a train at Stafford (from Wolverhampton) at 6pm and the station was in darkness bar some emergency lighting.... They had portable lanterns out all along the station and staff helping people....

Trains were stopping as normal....
