I started going in the Cheshire league days

The ground including the social club is a dank and depressing place

The world has moved on and left the Rangers behind it

I am not knocking it for the sake of it, my comments are a reflection of how the place looks without the rose tinted glasses

Why not sell up and move to Riverway, clear the debts, add a stand, share the ground, and have a place worthy of taking a family on a day out ?
I have no idea whether Stafford Town would welcome that, do you? You seem to be suggesting disbanding, finishing Stafford Rangers, its history ect. I can see the idea would have some merit, but it is not me you would have to convince. They are currently separate entities and your suggestion might have a few objectors. I don't want to be personal, but I don't think your post can be taken seriously. I know you claim you were going in Cheshire League days, but I suggest the post shows scant appreciation of the current situation regarding amalgamation, or non league football at this level. I have attended a number of clubs playing at the same level as The Boro'. Rangers ground is indeed not good state at the moment like others. The club house is considerably better than most, and I think the folks who have spent money and time updating the club house will be appalled at your depiction! If you have not attended recently, (I seriously doubt you have!) you should be ashamed at yourself at putting such condemnations on a public forum! It does however give me the opportunity to say again, what an excellent venue it is, yes I have hired it. If its 'dank' how come blood donning and the variety of other groups use it? You are entitled to an opinion, but mine is, that to malign the hard work done on the club house, by Stuart Maun, an many, many, more, is scandalous, shameless, and IMO plain inaccurate!

Shame, JM!
Members bar torn apart and refurbished, front main room refloored, retiled ceiling, reupholstered, recarpeted. Lotus suite redecorated and only last week snooker tables recovered.
People of Stafford judging without knowing the facts? Well! I never!

You missed of the half time pint and the scramble for chips other than that its perfect.... It is a great club and for me I would much rather watch non-league football than some over paid prima donnas cheating or hassling the ref to get players sent off.
For those of you who have never watched non league football come down to the FUN DAY on Bank Holiday Monday and watch us play (and hopefully beat) Nantwich.

There is definitely some merit in what John is saying re the state of the Rangers ground. I regularly walk past it, and the state of the carpark certainly doesn't entice me to enter any further. A nice tarmac carpark and some maintenance of the frontage would help massively here, add some kerb appeal. I know this isn;t the reason the club is failing, but first impressions and all that!

Can we please get real. The cost of tarmacking the car park at the Rangers would be circa £50,000. The club is by all accounts in debt to the tune of half a million pounds. Is this going to happen? No.

I would wager a bet with you that we come back to this thread in 12 months time and the car park will be in a better state than it currently is.

The amount of work being put into the fun day on Monday is really impressive. Not only is there the outside entertainemnt etc but now the big room is being used for arts and crafts sale as well as other bits and all tables are being hired out.
A bit of clarification on the ticket draw, too - All adults entering the ground with an under 16 (under 16's free) will get a ticket for a draw for 4 Alton Towers tickets. They dont come cheap! Fair play to somebody for that one! The winner needs to be at the draw in the club after to claim their prize.

I'm getting married on Sunday, however I will do my best to try and go to the fun day on Monday and watch the game. I hope the fun day encourages other Staffordians to visit Marston Road and support their local club.

Fellow Staffordians if you are looking for somewhere to entertain the kids on Monday why not take them down to Marston Road. There are a number of craft stalls and games for the kids plus much much more. We are also playing Nantwich that day which is our last home game of the season. Kids get into the ground free if accompanied by an adult..... so get down there and support YOUR local Team. Up the Boro!

After the first meeting a lot of hard work has been put in and the fun day on Monday is the first of a number events to galvanise the club. There is also a comedy hypnotist show on 30th May and before that the club will be attracting people into the social to watch the FA Cup, with music and a barbecue laid on. Club bookings are starting to increase and the club also has rooms that can be hired for conferences and meetings in the daytime.
All things that can bring the community in the club.

I would say the way forward is take a look a brocton, develop an ethos of young players. Then sign up most of the brocton team. No actually don't. Not until you have a forward thinking manager and board.

Ally are you aware that Stafford Rangers U18 have won their league the last 2 years running plus a number of other cups under the excellent stewardship of Chris Curtis. Graham Heathcote (Manager of Rangers) has now promoted 5 or 6 of these players to the first team squad and Alex Curtis has been a revelation this season. You can watch his performances on YOUTUBE by searching under Stafford Rangers TV.
Are you not aware of the amount of Brocton players that have played for Rangers this year.... Bell, Whitehouse etc. I wish it was as simple as bringing in good players from a promotion winning team in the league below, but clearly it is not as shown by when Greg Clowes brought in players from Newcastle Town.
Graham Heathcote has an excellent non league pedigree and is/was a scout at Man City so if there are young players out there who are good enough and with the right attitude I am confident GH will play them and improve them.
Furthermore there were games last year where the average age of our team was 23 so hardly an old team, the fact is the league we were in is very physical and some of the young / skillful players that we have brought in have not been able to cope with the physical league that we played in.

I am a huge fan of Brocton, and I have seen them play a number of times this season, and would love to see some of the players make the step up and come to us. I wish Brocton all the best for the future, they play football the way it should be played and are a joy to watch.

I look forward to seeing you on Monday at our final home game to Nantwich.

I am not surprised folks don't really know about Boro's youth set up. There has been so much justifiable negativity, in this Annus Horrible! ;) I am not really up to date with the younger folks teams, believe there has been some discontent down the age groups, but the U 18's have certainly blazed the way. Chris Curtis has a good team of coaches around him, and his lads have certainly stepped up this season. Won 2-1 today, away against Trafford, who were 10th in the league at start of the game! :) All achieved by a young team! Roll on next season, but you still can catch the last home game of the season; and before the game there will be a Family Fun Day! at the ground, Marston Road. Come aloong you, know it makes sense! :bananafunk: Stafford rangers Fun Day from 12pm; Bank Holiday Monday 21st April http://www.staffordrangersfc.co.uk/index.html

A great day appeared to be had by all today at Rangers.
The sun shone, the team won and people turned up in numbers for the fun day. This will hopefully prove to be a reminder of what the club offers and can kick on to have a productive Summer with numerous other events to bring crowdsback in. It would be nice to have a bit of nice feedback if anybody attended today?
The day was arranged and put on in ten days from conception to completion.
