The silvers amusement near sports direct and the picture house, has become an admiral slots arcade.

You need some proper old fashioned arcade machines in a place like this. Not a load of fruit machines. Get some proper pinball and clay pigeon shooting games in there!

Heard rumours that's it's all to be redeveloped as housing, but there's no real evidence that home bargains are even closing.
I have heard that Home Bargains is closing but yes there isn't any signs up or anything - i cannot imagine them moving in next to B&M on Kingsmead?

Does anyone know if the news i heard that Peacocks, Iceland and Home Bargains closing is true?
Awful shame if it is - there will be nothing left that side of town :(

It is SBCs intention to have nothing left in that area.

Unfortunately that side of town as a retail and other destination has long gone

Peacocks are playing a game of "chicken" with the landlord. They have put the rent up and Peacocks are refusing to pay - the "Closing Down Sale" is pending landlord negotiations. If the rent is reduced, they will stay - if not, they will go. Simply business decision really.
Did they not used to be in the old Co-op? And possibly, elsewhere, too?

Or was that Dorothy Perkins?
