Stafford shops closing - Turning into a ghost town?

Getting upset about a Greggs closing but not being bothered about a local deli shutting down

Stafford, to be fair, is typical of a hundred other towns not in the beautiful south .

Groceries driven to your door

Why would anyone volunteer a trip into town

The cinema is fine , but 4 worthy films a year? Hardly worth it is it.

That's a bit rubbish, that wasn't refurbed that long ago, and seems a decent size with sitting area for those that used it .

I hate it when we get screwed over and the worse one's kept, the same happened with Waterstones, the one in the guildhall was much more useful.

In any case, the one they're keeping is rubbish, they never really have much most of the time, and what they do have is cold most of the time . However, tbh, Gregg's prices are sky rocketing so tend not to use them much.

Wonder why they pulled out of foregate street , they were meant to build a Gregg's next to news and booze for some reason, had the windows covered up saying "Gregg's opening here soon" but never materialised. Think they opened the Riverside one instead.

The greengate one never has much (especially after lunch) because it is used more. What I don't find in this one I go to gaolgate st which always has plenty. Hence, the pending closure.

Cannot say I ever saw anything on foregate st about a greggs, certainly not last couple of years and I go past it everyday.

Which local deli?

I suspect Tilly left the "very" out :)

I went past Acapella this afternoon and all stock besides the window dressings had been removed from the shop with a sign on the door saying, "Sorry we're closed". Does anybody have any further info?
It was still the same again as I went past today. Just the window dressings . Couldn't see any signs anywhere. A shame if it's closed for good, I didn't go in there often but when I did the service was great and we came out happy each time.

Seems odd to close the one further away from the Riverside one. It might be something to do with their classification perhaps? The one by Game and the Riverside one both have seating, whereas the other one is takeaway only.

Franchise agreement maybe?

Because three in a town this size is too many I expect and the one opposite Smith's is by far and away the busiest of the two as others have said.

Makes sense and was only a matter of time.

Hope the staff are getting jobs in one of the other two branches.

Ah yes.

The real question is, are the other two going to pick up the slack? Trying to buy anything in Greggs past 2pm is borderline impossible as they’ve sold out of pretty much everything
The other two don't need to pick up the slack...they've probably done a review of footfall, sales etc and have come to the conclusion that the location in mind isn't hitting the numbers. They know that a proportion of the traffic for the doomed store will naturally migrate to the nearest outlet and will be happy with that.
