Well if the council themselves are promoting it, I can't see them then denying the approval .

Presumably Accor Hotels will have done their research to establish demand. Can only really be a positive for that end of the town and the food and drink establishments there and in the rest of the town centre.

Whilst in town this morning I could of sworn I heard noise coming from the ex Gregg's site next to Game. Does anyone know if anything is going on?

I quizzed one of the workers there the other day, but he stated that he didn't know what the end result was supposed to be, they were 'just gutting the place'.

I thought at first the hotel was proposed on the Job centre site. Which already looks like an Ibis Budget, they'd just need to put a sign up and smash a few more of the windows

I find it strange nothing has ever been done with the old Top Travel shop in the high street, and the one next door, ever since Top Travel closed many moons ago (inbetween Toni & Guy and Bridgfords)

Great news about the hotel in Stafford. Stafford has a shortage of hotels in the town centre. A new hotel will improve that end of town.

Anything that makes use of an empty building is positive in my book, would have even accepted a strip club tbf .

I was talking to someone a couple of years back who'd viewed it at some point in the past looking to open a business there and they alluded to an issue with the plumbing that would have made the shop fitting awkward. I wish I could remember the details now...
