I saw Jamo in town today - if that's how you spell it - one of those names that is only spoken. He seemed to be on top form..

I did bump into Pat in the town a couple of days ago, but failed to report it. She was my source of calendars in recent years, but I'll let her off now.

Dennis should be due for release today, if all goes well. It is two 'n's - something which he is very insistent about. He had added a second one to the name that the authorities had written over his bed....

Of course, I also see Print Room Shirley most days, but didn't really associate her as a 'sighting'..
Haven't seen Shirl' since she retired!!
Sorry to say, Aunty Pat has now been diagnosed with MND. Im gutted about that as we've always been close.

Ron Butters was at the Toy Fair at the Showgound today.

Saw Cyril Moore in town during the week.

And, later on today, I saw a Morris Dancer washing his car..

And Derek Gorman's just called on me for a definite two-pointer....

I had the pleasure of bumping into Stoofer tonight - for the first time this century, having co-incidentally had his other identity revealed to me only a couple of days ago. I would never have worked it out myself...

Newbie Post
Hello all, was searching for a link back to the Instrument Transformer Division in Hixon and found this forum. I notice a few comments about creating a new thread, has this been done ? Is this it. I worked at both Switchgear and ITD and just reading through this it is great seeing some of the old names again :)
Thanks
Phil

Hi philwilson, welcome to Stafford Forum; glad you found us! :D

A "thread" is just another name for a topic, and each thread is made up of individual posts, each one from a different user. So the above is a post, made by your good self, in the thread titled "Switchgear Historical Society.".

Have a look around, and have fun. :)

Hi there, philwilson. I'm not sure how far you go back, but it was ITU in my day - Unit, before division was the way forward. I spent the blazing summer of '76 at Hixon in Test with John Eades, and I saw Dixie Dean in town a couple of months ago..

Hi
It was a tad later but do remember John Eades still being there. I worked in the Stafford Switchgear business for David Owens and Cyril Moore whilst on placement from University through Bill Titley (?). Rather than go back to Uni I ended up taking a role out at Hixon working for Marshall Monks and John Hooper, I ended up spending around 6 very enjoyable years there.

Bill Titley (?)
Bill published a book a couple of years ago about growing up during the war years. His wife confused me for several days once by ringing up Development Test* and asking to speak to Harry - WHT, Bill at work, but Harry at home.....

*He was a tester in his previous life...
