Walton Garden Village Application was refused at the planning meeting yesterday. That's 300-400 cars that will not be trying to use the Lichfield Road.

Never understood why these roadworks appear in the cold dark months when the days are short and people won't be on their bicycles or walking so much.

All they need to do at the council is have a gantt chart, enter in all the planned works, start and end dates then ensure you don't have too many roadworks overlapping.

Hardly difficult. Sure, it might delay a few developments in the town but that's tough.

Steve B, I have lost count at the amount of times I have seen objectors try and claim village green status...

In most cases they are unsuccessful. In order to be able to demonstrate village green status you need to be able to demonstrate / prove that the area has been used continuously for 20 years (without a break). It is also very difficult to get village green status if the land is within private ownership.

The Ash Flats appeal is very important.

Bad traffic in town this evening! However it will get worse for some as the signs are up on the Milford Road stating road closed 11 Jan - 14 June 2015 - something to look forward to for the New Year :ohno:

Not a 100% but I think utility works can happen without any consent especially emergency works. May not be the case for big works like tixall rd but the recent gas works over a weekend near radford bank recently did not have consent.

there are also legalities. Take the new riverside development. Consent wad given by the secretary of state for the lane closure and that had a timeframe for completion without going through planning again, then you run risk of peeing the developer and they bugger off, so authorities do not become concerned with inconveniencing road users for 8 weeks.

but this would not be an issue but fir the tixall rd works approval sent came after, even though not an emergency they were required as the mains was cracking before you take into account the reason for increasing capacity for new homes. So that gets pushed through fast as a mains collapse would be a disaster for the local folk. So you have all these authorities trying to appease each other and the public, unfortunately the while holding up the aforementioned means loss if money or extra expenditure, so the public suffer and traffic jams is the lesser of all evils in their eyes. But scc are clueless regardless and have idea about traffic management anywhere in the county.

Enjoying a drop of red.

Over a weekend!!!!!!!!!!

Do you know how long a weekend is?

TWO BLOODY DAYS

The work at the top of Radford Bank has been going on for weeks.

I take it you don't go that way at all or if you do your eyes are closed the whole time and you have no access to any form of timekeeping to measure the length of the delay at times...

This legislation is:

  • Gas Act 1986 as amended by the Gas Act 1995 (schedule 3)
  • Electricity Act 1989 (schedule 4)
  • Water Resources Act 1991 (section 159)

Sick to death of the queues on St Leonard's Av because of the Tixall Road closure. Looked on roadworks.org for an end date- its now showing 18th January. Argh!

Reopening 19th December according to todays Express and Star.

But then the stretch from Milford heading in to town starts Jan for 6 months +.... more misery.

Seen a few HGVs reverse out of Tixall Road, obviously on the way to Perkins and following the sat nav a bit too religiously.

Still don't know why St Thomas Lane can't be two-way, it would help a bit with the road closure.
