They have improved the cycling aspect by the lay-by by installing "Cyclists Dismount" signs. The standard answer to this sort of issue.

I look forward to "Drivers Get Out And Walk" signs when the potholes get a bit too much.
Even if you dismount there's not enough space. A truck door in your face not much fun. On the same subject, Doxey Rd has been partly patched, leaving the potholed speed bumps.

Best avoid Stafford this morning if you can.

Wish I'd read these posts earlier. I decided that I would drive to the station due to the weather forecast and my dodgy hip and get some supplies in on the way home tonight but got stuck by the Shite Hawk roundabout. Ended up going out to Great Bridgeford and back via Seighford.

Very scenic morning so far but at least I'm not sitting on the bus on the Stone Road.

Don't know whether something has happened up the Cannock road, but there was nothing driving down from Cannock direction ( apart from cars coming off the side roads) as I've just walked from weeping cross up to Bridle Rd.
Ambulances been racing up that direction all morning.
Stupid female lorry driver, attempting to reverse into bridle road ,nearly caused an accident...the ambulance about to overtake it had to swerve around the wrong side of the pedestrian refuge in order to miss it as the lorry suddenly swung back out across the road in front of it.
Well done to that ambulance driver for his quick reactions!

I had to pick an old dear up in Corporation Street to deliver her to Stoke hospital - I couldn't get past Freemen Street, so I used the back of Oxford Gardens to access Beaconside/Portal Road, which wasn't too congested, due to the bonus obstruction of the Taylor Wimpey Blockage causing an added restriction to the extra traffic entering from the north.

The A34 was queued back to Yarlet School, for the same reason.

We came back via back roads and got here unscathed.

They have agreed that she can have it done at Stafford next time.

I had quite a pleasant argument with the yellow jacket at Stoke, who did finally cave in to accepting reality.

Just received this email from Staffordshire Police about yesterdays M6 accident.....

We were called at 11:20pm last night to the M6 between junctions 14 and 13 southbound following the report of a Ford Mondeo that had collided with the central reservation.
The 32-year-old driver then left the car and tried to flag down a number of passing vehicles before getting over the central reservation and onto the northbound carriageway. He was then struck by a Mercedes box van and suffered head and arm injuries.
He was attended to by medical staff from West Midlands Ambulance Service and taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital where his condition is described as critical.
Sgt Richard Moors said: "The collision involved a number of scenes over a mile distance and officers from the Regional Collision Investigation Unit undertook a detailed examination. The northbound carriageway was opened after around five hours but the southbound remained closed until around 9.30am today.
"Attempts were made to turn vehicles around on the southbound carriageway to release trapped vehicles, but with a number of large goods vehicles in the backlog this was a difficult task. I would like to thank motorists caught in the post-collision traffic for their patience whilst officers carried out their work.
"The investigation remains ongoing and we are keen to speak to any witnesses who saw either of the collisions on the southbound or northbound carriageway. I am particularly interested in any witnesses who have dash cam footage from either carriageway."
Any witnesses are asked to contact Staffordshire Police on 101 quoting incident 801 of 25 February

2 lanes M6 blocked betwèen 12 and 13 southbound- lorry crash

Queensway southbound was totally stuffed at Asda - not sure what was going on, but there were cones scattered about.
