So..

Even if you consider the Lord Redcliffe-Maud report and Act of 1974

Phil Lynott was still born in the county of Stafford

Although not stillborn

One day they might remove the barriers on Hydrant Way. Pretty sure there's no road works going on any more, so other than "selling houses by giving the illusion of no traffic" why are they still there?

It would alleviate a lot of traffic on Weston Road.

I read somewhere that there was some problem about council etc adopting the road. It was quite a while ago though before the traffic lights were finished on Tixall road end.

If you read to the end...

In Stafford .......

The Stafford to Walsall bit completed end of 1968

So it is 50 years old

In Stafford

I've got a collection of old OS maps, I must dig them out and see if they show anything for the M'way. Not sure if that would have got its own revision or not.

I do quite like the ones before Telford shows up.

At which point they'll start a cycle of extensive and highly disruptive roadworks, just so they can fcuk us all over a little bit more.

Check the routes for shipping the surplus materials away. They're planning to do some form of alterations to Hydrant Way.

I assume this is to shift the materials from Tixall area.

HS2 works are closer than we think!!!

Traffic was being held on the southbound M6 by J12 by cops just as I came up the northbound, and stationary queues stretching back a good way towards J13

I read on the Stafford Remembered Group that they're bringing down the Rainbow Footbridge up at Burton Manor next weekend and closing the M6 overnight while they do it. Does anybody know if they're going to replace it ? .. or is the footpath to be lost ? :|

There were FAKE plans for a replacement

I used to stand for hours on that bridge when I was a kid, watching the traffic .

Ah the good old days. Nowadays kids waste their time on PlayStations. Standing on a bridge, worrying passing motorists that you might drop something on them as the went beneath you was good, healthy fun.

UPDATE ON THE WORKS ON THE GREYFRIARS ISLAND. (FRIDAY 22ND - SUNDAY 24TH March)

As you know, Highways England have a planned closure of the M6 this weekend. This is for the removal of a foot bridge. With the motorway closed , i had major concerns on the impact on Holmcroft residents with the Grefyriars island being closed or partial closed during this period. Having expressed my concerns to highways team, and asking for the road to remain open, i am pleased to give you the update below.

I have received confirmation from the Engineers in question that all traffic management including any full road closures and lane closures will be removed from the network on Saturday morning by 6am. The team are hoping to resurface the carriageway overnight from 8pm Friday to 6am Saturday. All forms of traffic management will stay off the network over the weekend and will be replaced on Monday at 7am. Hopefully this will ensure that motorists do not experience any further delays when traveling during the M6 closure.
In terms of the closure on the M6, there will be lane closures between junctions 13 and 14 from 5pm on Saturday evening. This is so they can prepare for the works to commence and ensure that all equipment and materials are in place. The full closure will then commence from 8pm. The official time frame for this has been confirmed as 18hrs in duration however this is worst case scenario and Highways England are hoping to have the full closure off and reduced back down to lane closures in under 12 hours.
There will be a period of a couple of hours of lane closures at the end of the works so they can clear up and safely remove all equipment from site.

If you need any further information, you can email me on jonathan.price@staffordshire.gov.uk or call me on 07792024858.
