M6 southbound at 14 was essentially stationary just now.

There are intermittent "roadworks" between Creswell and Bridgeford as 'they' dig out the encroachment onto the footpath, getting back up to 50% of the width in places.

Sandon Bank was done a few weeks ago, but the verge there was wide enough to do it without affecting the motor traffic.

I drove to Tamar Lake this morning (about 3 miles) and I saw two cars. I said to myself: "This bloody road is getting like the M6 !!!"

Reading the above I suspect I was exaggerating just a tad. :embarrass:

I had the drive through hell between Oxford and Ashford yesterday afternoon with stop after stop after stop. Between the Channel Tunnel exit and Le Touquet, I encountered one car, and that was UK registered!

I love the motorways in Northern France.

4 and a half hours to get to East Yorkshire for us yesterday. Don't you love Bank Holiday traffic.

Rejoice, for Hydrant Way is finally open!

With a grand total of 0 work being done to that stretch in the past 1-2 years. My theory that they just didn’t want people thinking there’d be traffic near their house was correct

Tixall Road is going to be interesting during the Iron Man given how many houses don’t have sufficient parking... I know someone who lives there and the parking they have round back is basically nothing as the back garden is only partially converted to concrete

The Sandon Road flooding is quite high at the moment, but is still just passable, with care.

There is, though, a dead car there now, to act as a deterrent...

There are some fog patches around, mostly outside the urban area, there was quite a significant one at the Beaconside / Weston Road junction a few minutes ago.

The Common (& surrounding gardens) were covered in thick fog last night, very eerie...

It was impossible to avoid it...' – Pensioner appeals controversial bus lane fine after claiming HGV blocked route
The bus lane made headlines when it clocked 400 drivers in its first two weeks

Angered motorist Terry Deighton says he received a fine from his local council after going down a controversial bus lane.

Terry says he was in Stafford when he went up the bus lane on South Walls because a HGV was blocking his access onto Greengate Street from Mill Street.

The 87-year-old found himself slapped with a £60 fine from Staffordshire County Council but refuses to pay it.

He has now appealed the fine saying he had no choice but to use the bus lane or reverse out onto a roundabout.

Terry, of Ellenhall near Eccleshall, said: “On May 16 I received a penalty charge notice I went in the bus lane on Mill Street but I was going down there and there was a lorry blocking the way.

“I was following two cars approaching the roundabout and there was a 44-tonne lorry trying to turn right into South Walls going into the restricted area.

“I had Greengate Street to my right but the lorry driver had blocked my path. The front was a couple of feet away from my bonnet. I entered South Walls and the lorry turned left.

“I had to either reverse back out onto the roundabout by 20 metres or carry on. I didn’t want to reverse into traffic so thought it would be safer to go on.”

Terry says he then received a fine from the council showing a picture of him going down the bus lane.

He has appealed but claims Staffordshire County Council rejected his version of events saying the cameras showed the road was empty.

He added: “The council rejected my appeal because they say I could have turned right. They say they’ve looked at the footage and the camera shows no other traffic.

“The council has now denied me the chance to view the footage. Had they have checked five minutes earlier they would have seen the lorry.

“It was impossible for me to get around and the video should have showed that. The picture shows my car in the bus lane but I was already there.”
