Sons coming home straight after work on Monday at midnight. Hopefully there won't be any overnight closures.....

Last time I hit closures on the M5 overnight Eva Braun in the SatNav took me through Mordor … to near Kidderminster where there be Orcs and a large tower with The Great Eye peering down at me. (I believe Tolkien lived around that area for a while …)

Had a walk down to Aldi at lunchtime. The amount of traffic piling down in the town direction (and not much outbound ) was astonishing. Must be rammed in the carparks and shops.

With the great lake on Aldi carpark I can confirm it was rammed. Got in and got out. Realised we will need dog and cat food so having to venture out tomorrow.

Thank you. The original proposal included building new bridges next to the existing junction, which I think would have had much less of an impact to the traffic. They have started cutting trees on the slip road coming off at Junction 10, maybe to show they've started...

So, I'm sitting in lane two at the Aldi traffic lights heading out of town, lights go green so start to pull away. I get about six feet when a large silver 4 x 4 appears right in front of me having come out of the new St George's estate. Bloke in lane one stops with hand on his horn, I stop, grey haired old bat in 4 x 4 stops with a bewildered look on her face.
She then pulls away into Aldi going to the right of the keep left bollards.

The main works to upgrade Beaconside (the stretch between Parkside and Marston Grange) to dual carriageway will commence in January 2020 and last for approximately 36 months.

Something to look forward to in the new year.

The works due to start in January (but could still be subject to further delays) is the 700m section highlighted below and will take approx 9 months to complete. note this does not include improvements to Redhill island which may follow at a later date

That merge point will cause a few incidents.

I think it's pretty safe to extrapolate from that data that's the threshold is 10% + 2mph..

You take the risk if it isn't
