You can get to Eastgate Street from Queensway Island. Follow the diversion signs. You enter using the emergency access road (not shown on the map below) driving the wrong way into it.

You then drive the wrong way up Eastgate Street until you reach the Police Station and then you end up driving the right way even though you haven't changed direction! :lorks:

Thanks, I think I've seen buses go in that road. It's where the police cars sometimes sit?

I think the idea of going around the roundabout is to stop people jamming their brakes on to turn left and causing an accident.
It is. It makes perfect sense, when you're not encountering the junction for the first time.

Don't worry, I was smooth as silk, I just realised once I got in the left hand lane that the signage said different :P

With the state of the roads in Stafford getting worse by the day maybe an event like this will soon be an option and could be called the Great Stafford Pot Hole Challenge.

Whereabouts in Stafford is that? Looks like fun.

Queues going down Radford Bank from the mini islands this morning , and tailing back about 10 cars along Cannock Rd mid morning. (Luckily I was going down Baswich lane) . Same when I came back 45 minutes later. Are there roadworks somewhere on Lichfield Rd?

Radford Bank roadworks. I think Staffords own mole squad is storing some traffic lights and plastic road cones up there, as there as no indication of any roadworks or holes in the road to justify the traffic lights unless I missed something? Another inconvenience for drivers who end up belching out car fumes with stop and start traffic, nicely timed with the M6 diversion through town.

The roadworks are on the inside edge of the pavement on the southbound side of the road. Most of the pavement has not been dug up, the hole is mainly in the dirt by the side of the pavement and indeed the pavement is not closed to pedestrians.

The traffic lights and cones are there simply to provide a parking space for the workforce when they are doing whatever works they are doing. They could easily be put to one side when no work is happening in order to minimise inconvenience but the scum who are doing the works seem to think that is too much trouble.

So hoorah for them and a huge feck you for us.
