Hmmm, I'm wondering if someones suggestion of Stone Rd Common becoming a park & ride might just become reality...

...it seems to of worked very well for the builders building behind diddy-Tesco, but now its nearly compleated where are all the people who will work in the huge development park? - there doesnt seem to be a vast ammount of parking spaces now theyve taken the boards down...

I think SBC need to find some new parking spaces, they've build on most of the old ones

The Old Police HQ site is currently vacant. That would make a good park & Ride location.

Parking charges is one reason Stafford's in the mess it is
Working round the country i see every town with parking charges are in much the same boat
Those with free parking are doing well

Do not agree with those with free parking are doing well. Newport have this in their town centre high streets which was backed by the mayor.

even she has admitted free parking is a mistake as have shop owners who wanted it.

reasons that the parking is not regulated as there are or were no traffic wardens so there is no turnover in traffic. Plus the parking is taken up by people who work in town and not actual shoppers. It is a right mess.

free parking may work in areas in small forms but is not the answer and even Newport have paid car parking on centre outskirts car parks.

you look at Stafford s charges they are quite reasonable and certainly not above the normal. I mean you can have all day parking at sainsburys and station ( Saturdays) for 2 or 3 quid you will be hard pressed to find that anywhere

Stafford does have the strangeness of charging on Bank Holidays, except Christmas Day, which does catch people out.

How about a version of Boris Bikes? The council could do something useful with the £20m sitting in their Stafford hoard.

Who the hell wants to park (if and when its not flooded ) a good 10 minute walk from the town plus the agro of carrying work equipment

I bet the lorry drivers would be ecstatic if the moat was removed in the entrance to their parking site by Sainsbury's.:stafford:

worrying thing is that road will become part of the western access route. if they don't fix it the new bypass is going to be closed most of the time
