Admin Edit: It looks like new owners have turned this place around! I will leave this old thread here for posterity, but please do not consider any of the information current. Here is a newer, much more positive thread:

Staffordshire Bull shortlisted for excellence award

It's really sad but I can forsee our local pub going to pub heaven.

A new owner took on the lease and put in the landlady from the Nesbett and it appears their few regulars may have followed.

The glasses and the pub are filthy. The live weekly bands have gone and we have frequent karaoke! Which doesn't attract many :(

Opens when it wants - and closes when it wants :( and the landlady prefers to be on the other side of the bar

When anyone visits the Luck Penny all the regulars are in there :( very sad

I don't understand you (I must be being slow today)

A few regulars are under the impression that the brewery want to run it down so it will be turned into houses - cest la vie

I have the same problem on a daily basis

I was asking if you thought it was going the way of the Nesbitt

Which 'brewery' owns the Bull?

There will be very few 'local' pubs left soon, TBH I stopped going to the luckpenny when the old couple moved on though. I live right near the Holmcroft but never go in, the closest pub to my OHs is the Kings Arms but we never go in there either. There are a lot of pubs I do not frequent in Stafford, some because they are out of the way (for me) and the others because they don't cater for my needs.

Enterprise still own the pub - but it's strange as they have done the toilets up (albeit on the cheap) so I'm not sure.

I think it is, which is crazy with the right licensee it could be busy again. We have a complete new estate being built opposite - so could attract customers.

The bull was always busy when previous licensees had it. The live bands, good food and service always attracted people.

Oooh surprise we have karaoke again on Saturday - last time they had that on there was about 10 people in the pub - and most were the old locals from the Nesbit.

:(

I think the last place I would want to go to on a Saturday night would be one where there was Karaoke. Actually the same applies for any other night as well.

Sad but true - the 'even more frequent' lockins the landlady is having until the early ours - giving out free alcohol and servicing the customers!! :(

We have now been told the original Nesbit people started a glass through ing brawl which resulted in one of them being hurt.

Sadly now definitely not a family pub :(

Parksider - I bet you won't come from behind your anonimity. People like you make pubs go down the drain with your doom mongering.

I have an idea of who you may be - the type that goes in the pub and buys one drink and makes it last forever and expect free entertainment etc.

If I was the landlady and you were man enough to slag her off to her face I would sue you for slander. If you want my name etc, message me and I'll gladly give them to you.

Loser, sad person, miserable nobody, get a life.

Can i just say that i have been a regular in the staffordshire bull for years, i often frequent the pub and have seen it pass hands many a time between different lanlords and landladys!!!!!
I have to say that i am slightly appalled by the way you are all speaking about our new landlady because I have have to say I personally think the cleanliness has got much better and to make such personal comments on somebodys personal life is wrong!!!!! Do you know her, would you say it to her face or do you just save it for your forums!!!!
I personally think that we should all be doing all we can to save such cherished thing as our local pub or we could lose it and then what are these forums gonna talk about!!!!
Do you remember when we used to have a pub!!!!!!!!!!!! I speak up because I personally know the land lady as a female customer and think she does a pretty damn good job!!!
P.s parksider I bet you still drink in the pub although you wont say who you are!!!

This is Santaslittlehelpers' better half's opinion.....
