Staffordshire Newsletter Website.

I have just been on the Stafford Newsletter website and it is so difficult to navigate, with all the ads and other rubbish that is on there. I realise that they need to gain revenue from adverts but surely not from ones that ruin the browsing experience??

The Newsletter website is very useful - as a lesson in how not to do it.

The recent 're-vamp' of the BBC News site is rather irritating, too.

The full page video adverts absolutely make me want to tear my hair out.

I've not even been able to get onto it via Mobile for about a month now, God knows what they've done to it.....

I gave up on it ages ago - I know they need to bring in advertising revenue, but the whole site is nothing but ads... the full page ones which pop up and the auto playing videos halfway down the page are the most irritating

And it's annoyed @littleme enough to mention it twice :P

Currently, when I attempt to load the Newsletter site, it takes me to the Sentinel site, then fails to upload that...

The Sentinel site has just been revamped and is now fit for the 20th century, being mobile aware and responsive. Maybe that was the cause of the oops?

A decent browser + AD blocker still essential for using the site.

Expect the newsletter to convert too soon as they are all part of the same outfit these days.

The site is working for me now. When I say "working for me" I mean that it is opening normally when I attempt to load it.

The Staffordshire Newsletter website has disappeared and you just get re-directed to the Sentinel website. The Stokie-fication of Staffordshire continues, next the county will be known as Stokeshire.

For PCs I would recommend AdNauseam, https://adnauseam.io/ . It blocks ads but also clicks on them universally & blindly. The web page owner gets the benefit of ads on their site being clicked but the advertiser gets a confused & unusable record for tracking and targeting. There are versions for Chrome, Firefox, Opera and derivatives such as Chromium, Vivaldi & Pale Moon.

It is a standard for look for all local papers sentinal, burton mail, lichfield mercury, tamworth herald etc, etc who are all owned by the same national organisations that include national papers.

The web pages are simple and easy to navigate and if you have the right software pop ups and adverts are easily blocked.

It looks like the Staffordshire Newsletter website is officially dead, it hasn't been updated since 6th October 2017.

emails to staff are returning as unread.

I hope the newspaper keeps going, although I fear its days are numbered.

I submitted a bereavement notice yesterday and it all went through fine, although it's not been put on the website yet...
