A touring comedy night that aims to raise morale and funds for grassroots campaigns for the Labour Party is coming to Stafford in October.

Stand up for Labour, which has put on over 100 comedy nights in England, Scotland and Wales will include the UK's only deaf comedian, Steve Day; a gag writer for the BBC, Juliet Meyers; and a veteran of London's comedy scene, Norman Lovett.

Norman Lovett, who played the computer 'Holly' in the cult TV show Red Dwarf, is appearing in his sixth Stand up for Labour event. Norman is headlining the night and joins other comedians such as Arthur Smith, Shappi Khorsandi, Eddie Izzard, Jo Brand, John Bishop and Arnold Brown in showing support for the Labour Party.

Stand up for Labour takes place at Littleworth Community Centre (St Thomas Street, Stafford ST16 3UU) on Sunday 19 October. Tickets cost only £10 if bought before 15 September, or £12.50 in advance and can be bought online at staffordlaughs.eventbrite.co.uk or by calling

I was just thinking that. Seems like a good line up but I'm f***ed if I'm paying for a ticket which supports labour. They're going to win the next election anyway and thanks to the fact that I work hard/try/make good decisions I will be handing over an eye watering amount of my income (as will all of you) to them in due course.
