Star Wars

So I can't believe we don't already have a thread.

I've just been with the big-small one to the midnight screening of 'The Force Awakens' and it was amazing and officially ranks as my favourite of the newer films. The 5* reviews were pretty accurate IMHO.

Everyone seems to have a different order of preference, to date mine is: 4,6,5,7,2,3,1

250,000th poster!
Attack of the clones was my favourite, but only because I watched it in an American cinema in Germany - American audiences are awsome to watch films with!

I haven't seen any Star Wars films, not one.

I resisted for a long long time and they really surprised me. I'm not a fanatic (though a bit of a geek at heart) but my 7 year old is a huge fan, she's Star Wars mad at the moment. Though this time last year it was Pirates of the Caribbean.

They are definitely worth a watch if you have nothing better to do one day, though start with the originals, episode 1 is garbage.

Thats the thing though @Bob

I always have something to do.

I never think "what can I do now?" .....there is always a long list of things to do/people to see/books to read.

same here.. i don't know how they have passed me by - i am exactly the demographic for your classic "star wars geek", but somehow i have never seen a whole star wars film all the way through! the only reason i vaguely know the plot is because a) it's so famous and b) family guy's parody trilogy..

i've downloaded the despecialized editions of the original 3 films, but every time i try to watch the first one i get a bit bored and end up putting a new film on.. i think, because i missed them first time round, i haven't got that nostalgia factor that helps you enjoy old films that are actually a bit crap..

i want to see the new one, though, so i really have to make an effort..

I will go and see it, just need to organise a time. Went to see the original 3 back in the day (flea pit Cannock). The newer films I watched on TV as the reviews were so bad. JJ Abrams seems to have a feel for sci fi, I liked his Star Trek movie and watched Lost.

Enjoying a drop of red.
Will definitely be seeing. Probably in Telford or Newcastle. Hopefully next week.

Watched the original three at cinema and thought they were great. The newer ones were crap.

Went to the midnight screening in Newcastle, and I have to say hands down absolutely brilliant!! I have a few tiny niggles but they are inconsequential really.

Daisy Riddley & John Boyega superb in taking the "baton" into the next 2 episodes.

I'm now reeeeeeeeally looking forward to the first planned spin off story "Rogue One" planned for next December.

Take a bow J.J...you done well

Excluding the latest, I've probably seen all 6, the latter 3 mainly because the kids wanted to see them.

I always struggle with the storyline - apart from the obvious ones, who are the baddies and who are goodies.

Is the numbering in chronological order, or release date order?

Personally I prefer something a bit more linear ..... like Pulp Fiction.

By episode 4 the original and still the best, 6 Return of the Jedi, 5 The Empire Strikes back??, then the new one -probably the best so far but doesn't have the nostalgia value, then the newish ones (ep 2 & 3) with episode 1 the phantom menace being my least favourite.

Keep an ear out for Daniel Craig's Cameo appearance as a First Order Storm Trooper. Obviously he has his bucket lid on, but his voice is distinctive......

I didn't notice Daniel Craig though on of the storm trouper voices was bugging me so I had to look it up, the fabulous Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth for the GoT fans) is Captain Phasma.

There's quite a few little "Easter Eggs" through out the movie, especially from the 501st Garrison (before your start Mr Marwood, these guys are the non-profit charity organisation that do some fantastic charity work, especially for children's charities the world over).

There's a version of their crest on one of the worlds that is visited, also the Pink R2 unit that follows them features in the background of the Rebel base R2-KT

well, i sat down and watched the first star wars film (episode IV: Soap on a Rope i think it's called) at the weekend.. the deal breaker was my 8 month old daughter, who i was in charge of at the time - if she liked it, it stayed, if she had a fit then it was going off..

she loved it.. she was a bit grizzly and unsettled before i put it on, but as soon as the music started and the yellow text started scrolling, she was fine.. she seemed to love C-3PO in particular, going quiet and staring at the screen with her thumb in her mouth any time he was on - mrs. db thinks it's because it reminds her of her dad..

but yeah, not a bad film.. i think i actually enjoyed it more because i vaguely knew the plot, so i could appreciate all the allusions to future plot points and the relevance of certain locations..

i'm glad i watched the despecialized version.. i'm planning on watching the next two over the christmas period, and will get on The Force Awakens once it's out..

Have to admit to not seeing the others but have them on record over next few days and then plan to see the new one as I've got six free cinema tickets and not seen anything else I fancy watching yet apart from the Tarrintino film due out which will be a must !
