Starbucks to close

The Starbucks in Sainsbury's is to close this Sunday. The space will be reused for the return of the Sainsbury's café.

Shame really as I always prefered the one in Sainsbury's to the one in the town centre, the decor for example is much nicer.

The sainsburys cafe is bloody good value for money.. so bring it back.....

Well the loss in jobs will be counter balanced by new jobs in the cafe, and TBH we have too many coffee shops anyway.

At the moment we're dead in Greengate from about 5 onwards. If more people start using it later then they'll extend the opening hours when the 6 monthly review comes round. Not that I especially want to be stuck there until 8 in the evening mind....

The Starbucks and Starbuckettes at the Sainsburys branch used to make a champion Chai. Unfortunately I have had a few in the high street branch that have lots of latte but lack a charge of Chai. I guess it's because it doesn't get ordered that regularly.

It wasn't always busy. Having worked there I can vouch for the fact time used to pass very slowly indeed. To be honest it wasn't all that sudden either. Starbucks have had a program of store closures since July of last year & everyone who worked there knew the place was on the list of stores that were likely to be axed...although nothing was definite until about a month before it shut. I understand the final nail was Sainsbury's wanting to put the rent up when the lease came up for renewal.
