Hi people, i'm not holding my breath here but if anyone is offered or sees anything then i would be glad to hear back.

Yesterday (thursday, 10th Dec) at approx 4.10pm i had a bike stolen from outside the Best One shop on Corporation Street, opposite Travis Perkins. Yes i left it unlocked, my mistake but you learn from these things, i was in the shop for 20-30 seconds and when i came out in its place was a little red piece of s*** which i probably could of got a few quid scrap metal for!

The bike is a 2006 GT Avalance 2.0, it wasn't standard so is easilly recognisable. Matte black in colour, white logos, white Fox forks, and white logos on the wheels.

If anyone can lead me to the junkie who decided he was in need of a bike upgrade then a reward will be offered.

Cheers for any help.

Sorry, couldnt embed the pic on here, link below.....

If anyone could embed the pic for me thanks a lot

Aye that was tek.

Good luck to the pair of you in getting your bikes back, although from previous experience I wouldn't hold your breath.

White Ranker - although you didn't lock your bike up its a pretty sad state that someone can't leave their bike ourside for a few moments while they buy a newspaper or whatever.

Still no word back from the police yet even though i was told, the investigating officer would be in touch.

I'll be checking Ebay every few hours incase of it being put up on a fast sale but i really cant imagine seeing it again. No doubt its sat in a dealers back garden right now after a local junkie swapped it for his next fix..........scumbags!!

basil

don't mention the blinds
Maybe just maybe it was had by one of those collared in the dawn raids this morning........:xmas:

Cheers Gramaisc.

So sorry for the inadvertant trauma, I didn't spot that, I hardly ever look at adverts. Strikes me that it could be targetted advertising. People who have had a bike nicked are more likely to read this story, people who have had a bike nicked are more likely to want another bike - obvious, really.

I really want one of those Nexus ones with the hub gears and brakes - one day.....

Damn, nice bike. I got the same bike myself :ninja: but mine is white and all standard spec apart from the SPDs I put on....

Once had to leave my bike outside a shop unlocked cos I forgot me lock, was crapping myself while the slow post office woman did her thing so in the end I gave her everything she needed and went and stood outside with my bike.

Questions for the OP:

Is it security marked - i would scope that bike a mile off so doesn't matter to me but increases chance of recover if it is.

Is it covered on your house insurance - will help get a replacement for you.

Any CCTV in the area - I could be imagining this but i'm sure I have seen a camera around there.

No security marks but i know what every single different part is that have been added, where all the chips/scratches/cable rub marks are, its easilly recognisable to myself and anyone that knows bikes.

No insurance

I know there are a few cameras in that area, the ones on the towers. Not sure if any cover that exact spot, i'll have to look next time i'm going past. Travis Perkins CCTV over the road is a possibility but i doubt they will cover that far.

Not necessarily looking at the spot it was nicked from mate.... more anywhere around that area... the twunt had to of come from somewhere so any cctv in that vicinity might be worth a look. Thinking about it, nothing at the shop? They sometimes have cameras on the outside to keep a look out for chavs.

No, nothing outside the shop.

Only hope i think is the cameras on towers in that area, i know one is outside The Joiners Arms on Marston Rd, and possibly one down by The Four Crosses/Atlas takeaway, cant think if there is one at the junction of Corporation St and Sandon Rd. Like you say the scumbag whos had it will be fairly local to the area and might have passed one of these on his way there or as he was making off.

Will the police have the time to trawl through the CCTV from the area, i hope so but i doubt it. They know the exact time it went so if there is 3/4 cameras in the area it would only take a few mins of their time to have a look.

Just been told there has been some police raids around the Corporation Street area. Apparently stolen property has been recovered, including a garage full of bikes!

Anybody heard any more about this? I've just checked the local news sites but nothing on them.

Once i'm home looks like i will be digging out the phone number of the local cop who was dealing with it. Fingers crossed.

The police should be able to put a special registration marking on them for free. Hopefully you can just phone them up and get your tax money's worth.

I had mine marked outside ASDA a few years ago, but it's now getting on a bit for a modern-styled bike and incredibly dirty with rusty bits on it. So I'm not sure it's that enviable any more... goes like the wind though, and still very happy with it, even though my tyres kept deflating because of the high pressure I had them at. Learnt my lesson and bought some Slime inner tubes and not pumping them up to the extreme any more.
