Hi all,

I'm interested in finding out the key areas for student lets. I know Oxford Gardens (and the uni accom, obv!) are big ones, but are there others areas where lots of students live? Just wanted to find out before I start a leaflet-ing campaign in the wrong street ;)

Cheers!

Wherever the cheapest rents are! They were still in Highfields when I was a student, but those flats went ages ago. Otherwise Sandon Road and the streets that join it to Marston road were pretty popular.

This quote from Paul Calf always reminds me of students:

I was standing in a queue in the chip shop and a student was paying for a bag of chips by cheque.
I told him to get a move on or I'd hit him. He said, "He didn't want to fight me because he didn't believe it was right to raise his hands in anger against his fellow man". Ooh It's happy hour!
He kicked the sh*t out of me. He was a kickboxer.

Beaconside generally has a lot of students, especially the older areas like Portal Road, Tedder Road, Trenchard Avenue etc - it's easy walking distance to the Uni.

Unless I'm mistaken, Staffs Uni owns a large number of the former RAF houses and uses them for student accommodation.

Website says they own 54 semi-detached houses, which equals 161 bedrooms. (Source)

Many year ago I lived on Embry Avenue and all the houses on that street bar a couple were student houses. I guess that comes under the same area Mr X posted about above.

The old exchange is anyone from what I can gather, known a few people who've lived there. May be social housing? Above Chambers I suspect is students, the rooms are rented all inc.
