Technology....ain't it great

One of our guys (Guy 1) rang one of our other guys (Guy 2) yesterday afternoon to say he was on the M42 and had had to pull over as he was experiencing chest pains and numbness down his left arm.

Guy 2 rang the office to advise. Within seconds we were able to locate Guy 1 via Tom Tom on an emergency layby just north of M42 J5 and then via the motorway camera network we could see his vehicle, very shortly afterwards we saw the first responder vehicle parked with our guy and, as we now know, was carrying out a roadside ECG. Shortly afterwards again we saw the ambulance and a Traffic Officer vehicle had arrived.

Not long after that the layby was empty and as we were in dialogue with the highways agency over the 'phone we were aware that a traffic officer had removed our vehicle to a place of safety just off the Mway and that our guy had been taken to hospital.

Without the Tom Tom tracking and motorway camera network we would have been in the dark and, as our guy's wife also works for us out 'on the road' we were able to keep in contact with her and keep her up to speed with how things were going.

As I say, technology....ain't it great!

p.s. our guy is now at home, feeling a lot better and is booked into hospital for more tests.
