Ten Pin Bowling League - Tuesday Evenings

Hi folks.

We've just finished another successful season of our Tuesday Doubles tenpin league and are on a recruitment drive for the new season which will begin in September.

We've got 19 teams registered currently so we've room for one more (20 teams max due to lane restrictions).

All standards of bowlers are welcome and we do operate a handicap system to level the playing field throughout the season.

If there are any bowlers out there who may be interested post here and I'll provide details of how to join or any questions you may have I will do my best to answer.

Cheers !

It is intended to be a fun league and I try and run it that way.

Cost wise it's currently £8 which is for 3 games and also contributes to the prize fund and also to fund the annual presentation / social evening.

Bowling starts at 7.20pm and ends usually just before 9.00pm and is on Tuesday evenings and we play during school term-times mainly.

Squads can contain 4 players so you don't need to be there every week (doubles league, 2 vs 2).

To get back on subject, I've been a member of the league which Buntster helps run for several years and have made load of great friends, never had any trouble or arguments as it's played in a good spirit.

League bowlers get perks like cheap beer at the alley (£2 a pint) that night too.

Many of the bowlers can offer advice and several are 'BTBA' qualified so can provide proven tuition.

If you're worried about using the centres shoes you can buy bowling shoes online for £20/25.

The bowling balls at the alley are ideal for starters, to progress further you can get your own ball from around £65-100, as with most sports there is an initial financial cost but after this it's just the £8 a week to bowl. There is a gent who is part of the league that can assist with bowling balls as there aren't many local 'pro shops'.

The team I bowl in haven't had the highest scores this year but due to the handicap system we came 2nd in the league (there is one for pure scores and one for handicap scores) and won several of the 'prizes' on offer (males, females, singles, team etc) which get paid out at the end of season social event with raffles and such.

During the season there are several other events like a centre championship and a handicap cup - won by a bowler who only started this year!

If you're not able to make a match if you advise Buntster in advance he'll help schedule the match to be bowled another week as a 2nd game
