What's going on with Tesco's car park on the Newport Road? A huge chunk is being dig up? Just gave up trying to park and went to Asda....

just a guess but they have had some pretty big problems over the last 6 months of a moat forming around the store after heavy rain. perhaps they have decided to fix the drains. could be way off though.

You're most likely right, or something to do with random water appearing due to the drains in store.. most likely the water pipe though, (thought it was a nice water feature myself, made me chuckle)

I asked a Tesco employee and he said they were improving the drainage to the car park as it was prone to flooding.
