Thanks for that @staffordjas . I can't say I'm tempted. On the rare occasions we go out in Stafford, I usually suggest The Wildwood but we tend to end up going somewhere else - Wolseley Bridge usually, or The Barns in Huntington. I imagine next time, it'll be The Seven Stars.

@Mikinton It's a shame we've resulted to getting taxis down the town, rather than a short walk to our local.
Looking forwards to trying the Seven Stars out when hubby has a break from his serious diet.
Got a feeling the 2 new local pubs will be another nail in the coffin for 'The Wood' unless they pull their socks up!

Veggie dishes are best served as a surprise

If you want to encourage meat eaters to choose a vegetarian meal, it’s best to catch them by surprise.

A study has found that having a separate vegetarian section on a menu makes fewer diners choose the dishes. When the ricotta raviolis and mushroom risottos were hidden between T-bone steaks and hamburgers, meat eaters were more likely to pick them out.

Oh bless em, the ikle animal eaters need to be surprised in order to try something different and trained to have empathy coochy coochy-coo.

Sorry, must remember to channel James Aspey and not be sanctominious towards the holier-than-thou crew!

And you were doing so well speaking adult on your Mobile phone thread.

Do all vegans start talking juvenile when they talk about their favourite subject, or is it just you?

Have you been offended by something i've said?

I was 'doing so well', what, according to your ideology?

I'm glad you find me important.
You're funny.

Sorry mate .... just got back from the Post Office.

Anyway, I'm not really sure I find you important (I can't think where you got that from), but I am glad you find me funny, and I'm glad to spread a bit of happiness. (Cue Ken Dodd.)

We used to go quite often for meals with it being within a 5 minute walk from home. But it's been hit or miss as to whether a decent meal comes out for the last few years (since the latest management moved in). Even the better meals haven't been anywhere near as good a standard as the same items in other sizzling pubs. Just seem to be served a plate full of onions with the tiniest bit of dried up chicken on and not much else. Our last meal there , a few months ago, was so bad we vowed never to eat there again until new management eventually take over.
( We had consistent tasty and large portions in a sizzling in Paignton ,The Ship, every evening on holiday last September, along with excellent service. We even commented to the manager that we wished our local sizzling was as good ! )
It seems not much has changed.
I've heard that (from a friends recent visit) one dish was missing a main component, one dish ordered was another dish entirely, butter* was put on the vegan dish and the chips were inedible.
The chips were inedible! Who can't get chips right?

I know i mentioned Sizzling pubs here but now, i think i'll give it a miss.

*butter of the animal extract variety

Looks great Chris.
I'll just go and get my hat to doff your way!

I'll have the grilled tomatoes, fresh avocado and pesto, on sour dough followed by the vegan chorizo and red pepper sausage, cheddar mash and crispy onions, sounds delicious.
...oh and a Guiness for dessert.

Where you sourcing your cheddar, Violife? or have you gone more the artisan vegan cheese maker route?
