Anyone know what happened to that place? Always walk past it going to a Happy Meeting. Laughed a bit that theres a sign in the window saying Free Hire for a room or whatever in there... anyone know when it actually closed or anything about it. Couldn't see anything on it already here... it doesn't look like it long closed... looks like its just closed for the night or something but it's always closed so...

The last lot tried, at least a lot more than those before them, but it still just wasn't doing well. Didn't help that the Kings Arms is on the same road, and the Tap and Spile at the far end.

The Kings Arms looks quite small, it looks a bit like a converted house... Not been in either but may poke our heads in the Tap and Spile at some point.

Been closed a while now, was boarded up but the boards have recently come down.

Also a white line was painted round it early this week marking the boundary between the pavement and what land is part of the Albion property. It cant open up again as a pub with The Tap, Kings and Joiners all within a stones throw, knocked down and flats built in its place is my guess.

The Rifleman and the Shepherd's Bushes went for similar reasons..

I noticed The Rifleman is for sale with permission for domestic use; could be made into a nice home if the features such as the windows were incorporated.

Noticed the white line yesterday, I went in the albion a few times, they put on hips like cinderella a few times so I watched them play. It was an alright pub but if I want a drink locally I tend to go up the rangers. The tap and spile in my experience is quite frankly a shithole, however its been 2 years since I went in so the landlord/lady may have changed. Never been in the kings arms.

I'm not going crazy then, that IS a new thing there, we saw it and were like... what? Was this here before?

Bit harsh on the Tap. Good choice of real ales open fire in the winter pleasant enough bar staff never felt uncomfortable by the clientel

Kings Arms was always my choice as it was a good darts pub havent been in for a while now

The Rangers is in my opinion a very "cliquey"l place never been made feel welcome Did ask for a membership application when we moved but none was forthcoming Definitely a local club for local people

As for the Princess Royal :tumbleweed:

Well I only went in a few times 2 years ago, it was dirty, I mean really filthy, both sides of the bar, I did go in around 6 years ago and it was pretty good, but then the long standing landlord left and I stopped going.

The rangers I go to watch football on the telly, it was pretty simple to join and I just perch myself in there on a sunday and watch the sport. Never been in the princess royal, and looking through the window, not many other people do either.

I went past the Albion today at approx 16:00 and there was a planning application stuck on one of the posts outside and a bloke removing stuff from the front of the pub. Oddly, when I came back from the shop the planning application and the bloke had gone.

The planning application read: "Change of use of highway to residential land". I'm wondering if this means that the pub will be extended to the white line which has recently appeared or it will be knocked down and replaced with houses/flats up to the white line.

Whatever it is, I imagine local rags would love to have the community involvement that the Forum has.
