The Bankhouse Diner (and quirky crafts) formerly B H Grill, Bean Encounter & B H Wine Bar.

Enjoying a drop of red.
If I remember correctly last time I looked into tastecards they work out really badly for the dining establishment - since they only get 50% of the bill - relaying on the fact that they'll get twice the amount of people it, but few do.

It works very well for big chains that can take the hit, but not so much for independents.

Which in the case of the big chains is fair enough but it's a shame to patronise the little local places in this way and by going there actually be contributing to their potential downfall.

Far better for all concerned to use Enjoy Stafford Card, which has some interesting Bean Encounter offers on at the moment and it's free.

hmmm.. i was going to try bean encounter for the first time tomorrow night, but i might have to postpone that now - i don't want to pay full whack if i can get 50% off, but i can't see my card turning up by tomorrow :(

i do have an enjoy stafford card, but 20% off a single burger doesn't really compare to 50% off your whole bill (tastecard site says 50% off for parties of up to 6 people)!

Every time I check the website I go 'oh, I was just shopping in there' - I need a handy guide on my phone of something.

It's not like it's expensive - The Route 66 burger is £5.25

i know it's not - as andreas rex pointed out to me, when you compare it to a mcdonald's it's outrageously good value - but still, i'm not going to pay twice as much if i don't have to!

i just spoke to bean encounter, and he said as long as you have the iphone app, you don't need the physical card.. has anyone used the app? do i just sign up for the free trial here - http://www.tastecard.co.uk/trial/howtouse - then put my account details into the app and it will work immediately, does anyone know? i know that sounds like a daft question, but i don't want to muck it up since time is of the essence!

thanks..

Gotta agree with this, why pay more than others are? A better offer would have been to reduce prices for the first few weeks to get trade in then put the prices back up, as wormella mentioned the tastecard is a bit of a scam as all the money from the membership fees goes to tastecard and they do very little for the business other than putting them on their website.

Let me know about the app, I'll whack it on my android and go visit them later in the week for lunch :)

well.. what can i say.. bean encounter had a lot to live up to, and by jove it delivered! since it opened, i have been bleating on about how they don't do chips, they should succumb to customer demand, etc.. well, i still think they should consider them, if only to get people through the door, but i can honestly say by the time i had worked my way through some tortillas with home made chunky guacamole salsa, BBQ beans, and the like i honestly did not care for chips:

and then there was the main event.. the route 66 burger.. good lord have mercy, this was quite literally the best burger i have ever had.. hand made, moist, the bap wasn't so big that it overshadowed the meat, beautiful crispy bacon, gorgeous american mustard - i really cannot praise it enough:

in short: if you even vaguely like burgers, get yourself to Bean Encounter.. and they love social media, so tell them you heard about it on Stafford Forum! :stafford:
