The County Hospital

Enjoying a drop of red.
Is it actually possible for the Conservatives to do anything more to ensure their candidate in Stafford is not re-elected?

Liebour = people allowed to die through neglect and worse at Stafford Hospital in the name of meeting targets.

Cuntservatives = shut the hospital down and don't provide adequate healthcare therebye leading to further deaths.

Independents = the power to do fcuk all except nominate crooks to high-vis positions.

Really, it makes me feel like crying, but I think I'll settle for opening another bottle of red for now.

If we had easier access to GP's 24/7 then the problems at A and E maybe alleviated. I don't know how many doctors surgeries there are in the town but could we not merge some and have 24/7 service or are we expected to only be ill between 8 and 4 five days a week early closing on Wednesday.

yeh lets merge them all into one mega surgery then shut it down and move it to Stoke

It cost almost £20million to send special administrators into overhaul Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust - millions more than was first predicted, it emerged today.

The administration process, led by Alan Bloom, Alan Hudson, and Dr Hugo Mascie-Taylor, ended in November and has seen a downgrade of Stafford’s A&E, maternity and children’s departments.

The total cost of the process was £19.5 million. That figure covered the work to find and implement a solution to the problems at the trust - £17.35m - and £2.15m was paid to the administrators to run both County Hospital in Stafford and Royal Stoke University Hospital at the same time.

During the course of special administration, Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust paid Ernst & Young, the team supporting the TSAs, for additional professional services work costing £3.55 million.

It emerged last week that the TSAs claimed expenses of more than £1,000-a-day in the time they were in charge of the health trust.

The Ernst & Young team spent £687,928 on expenses, including £250,000 on hotels, £250,000 on train tickets, £63,000 on taxis, £59,000 on food and drink and £54,000 on cars.

Dr David Bennett, its chief executive, said: "If nothing had been done the trust would have been £100m in debt by 2018.

And now -

Health services in Staffordshire are on course for a deficit of more than £217m by 2019
So that worked then :stafford:

Lefroy says he'll stand down if he thought the hospital would close. So why didn't he say that and resign when he first saw the KPMG report?

Lefroy says he'll stand down if he thought the hospital would close. So why didn't he say that and resign when he first saw the KPMG report?
Jeremy Lefroy's newsletter says:-

KPMG Report and the future of our Hospital

A report by KPMG which was leaked last week contained suggestions about Stafford’s Hospital becoming an elective and rehabilitation centre (ie without an A&E). This proposal is out of date and has not been accepted by the Government or NHS, which continues to implement the TSA plans for our hospital to remain a District General Hospital with A&E.

There have also been media reports quoting people as talking of the possible closure of the hospital. As the NHS England statement published yesterday says: “Any suggestion that there has been consideration given to the closure of Stafford hospital is false and irresponsible.”

I trust that this will reassure constituents who have been understandably concerned about this.

The full NHS England statement is available at: http://www.england.nhs.uk/mids-east/2015/03/05/county-hospital-stafford/

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It seems rather hopeful to assume that people will be "reassured", a lot of people will continue to feel both worried and aggrieved.

Who commissioned the KPMG report? Whose money was used to pay for it? Why commission a report and refuse to accept its findings? Why not tell them what they're supposed to find and make it all look a bit better..?

And, who believes anybody any more?

KPMG big donor to Cons, so they wouldn't like to offend them by saying the recommendations were crap.

Well if Jeremy is happy that the hospital will not be closing I will definitely be sleeping more soundly in my bed :stafford: All that needs to be done now is sort the £217 million Staffordshire NHS black hole in the budget, caused by all the reorganisation, and the job's a good'un. :bravo:

Food for thought ?

Actor Michael Sheen says the core values of the NHS are being undermined. He made his comments on The Andrew Marr Show, saying: "This is beyond party politics. I think that's partly the point.
"There has been a systematic undermining of the core values of the NHS no matter who has been in power."

Neither of the only two parties who can win an outright victory in the General Election care enough or have enough intellect to understand the NHS and therefore it is being/will be destroyed
