The County Hospital

For the avoidance of doubt, it would be useful if someone / somebody released a statement outlining what services still remain at Stafford Hospital (I refuse to call it County Hospital). It would also be great if someone / somebody could be honest as to the long term future of those services that do remain.

We keep being 'drip fed' services that are being lost and I'm afraid I can't keep up!

From what I've been told there are only three wards active now and the top floor is empty .

There seem to be many more cars parked there at visiting times, than that number of open wards demand I'd have thought :?:

Yes, they are still doing eye, heart, x ray, out patient type services there during the day and they have new scanners which may now be working. So folks going in for this as well as visiting ?

No I meant the after hours visiting. Car parks seem more or less as busy as they ever were.

I can't see any reason to use the car parks other than visiting :strange: but I was talking to a member of staff a few weeks back and they mentioned there is only three wards functioning ?

I can't see it being too long until the whole place is shut down.

Upon my recent visit (this isn't just aimed at stafford) as I've also received advice elsewhere, I get the feeling that if it can be dealt with by self-care get on with it, whilst receiving conflicting advice from two different counties and thee is also further advice which is different again on the NHS website I still don't know what to believe to be honest, I certainly felt I may have been better off going to the vets. The whole system is under so much pressure to perform, get patients through, target setting, number crunching that care is something that is getting lost in the system. With ppl living longer and the older ppl get the more medical help they were need, there just isn't enough resources to cope with demand. I truly believe ppl will have to look towards private healthcare to stand any chance of receiving any care and I also agree they need to wheedle out the ones who persistently go to the drs and take up appointments as soon as they get a sniffle, if they charged for appointments they may find there would be more appointments available for ones who need them.

A health service has to be paid for

It's either paid for at source or by taxation

If it's paid for at source one third of your charges will go out of the health service and into shareholders pockets

Taxes can/should be raised to fund health and social care. Or something else loses its funding

You may think you don't need the full services of a modern healthcare system

until suddenly you do

At that point you are your weakest and least able to negotiate your care

I'm happy to pay for the NHS. It's a wonderful organisation as I found out last year when I had a TIA and yesterday when I was taken to A&E with severe stomach pains.
