I have always really rated The Penny. The food is always first class.

I've heard the landlord has health issues and cannot spend as much time working there.

Currently shut until Saturday, after a few Covid cases.

"Sorry due to a few customers notifying us of a positive COVID text we have taken the decision to close the pub until Saturday so we can deep clean and to run three days of negative testing for staff we hope you understand we have our customers and staffs safety as a number one priority this was not an easy decision to make but it’s the right one Thankyou for your support"

"As we continue to feel the effects of COVID 19 is having on our lives and industry, it is with deep regret we have decided to temporarily close our Stone branch.

Unfortunately we have had 2 members of our staff test positive and have had to isolate some members of our staff. Being a family owned business we think it’s best for us to temporarily close our business for the paramount safety of our staff and customers.

We are liaising with the local authorities and will take their guidance and follow the processes advised.

We are very sorry but we think this decision is in the best interest of everyone. We will try to call our customers who have booked in the next few days.

Our Newcastle branch is open as usual.

Thank you for your understanding and we will update all our customers in the coming days"
