Well, in light of the fact that Stafford’s number one live music pub now seems to be being run by someone who either doesn’t know how to run such an establishment or perhaps just doesn’t care (or maybe a bit of both), I am heartened these past couple of days to see Stafford respond in the appropriate style. First sign of this came yesterday with the announcement that the Bear & Pheasant open mic Fridays will no longer be fortnightly but weekly. This is great news. I haven’t been to the B&P open mic for a while, and Fridays are a little tricky for me just at the moment, but the ones I attended a while back were brilliant, so I’ll try to come along and check it out sometime over the coming weeks for sure. Secondly, a week tonight it’s Pelo live at the newly reopened Bear, which will surely be a great night! Thanks for being awesome, Stafford!!!

I went to the Market Vaults last night. It was busy and the singer sounded very good.

How long have MV had a bouncer on the front door?

I have seen one there in the past - once - I think.

They've had one on a Saturday night since @OJK extended the opening hours after he took over.

The one I noticed was very low-key - the others may have been below my threshold.

Nobody will ever be as unobtrusive as the Lidl store detective from a few years ago, though...

I thought he was a shoplifter first time I noticed him!

I almost tipped the staff off about him - the most undercover person I've ever actually spotted.

Nobody would ever suspect him of not being well dodgy.

Genius - he could infiltrate anything.

Looked in the MV on Saturday at about 2pm intending to get a burger. Looked in the little "side" door first & it looked dark & deserted. We went to the main door & looked inside. We could only see 2 people sitting at the bar (I don't know if these were council workers:xd: ). We didn't go any further so there could have been others in there out of sight. It's the first time we've tried since the take over & unfortunately it'll probably be the last. So very different from our previous visits at Saturday lunchtimes when the place has been very busy.
We wondered whether they are actually doing food now as there wasn't much advertising the fact but as we walked away there was an a-board vaguely advertising the burgers.

I was in on Friday night. The only noticable change was the staff. Rammed as usual. I feel people are being precious and looking for any reason not to visit or to criticise.

Recent visit, nothing's changed, well a few things have changed but not that noticeable.
Like what they've done with the booth, surprising what a few stickers can do. Mural on the wall near by's a bit of a shocker though.

Had a bite to eat and it was really good, fries were as nice as ever and there seemed to be even more fries than ever!

Well, the word on the street is that what many saw as being inevitable has finally happened and the place is now under an interim management regime, although there seems to be a possibility that this might become more permanent.

    Time will tell.

Well, I'm glad that guy's gone and I expect to set foot in the place again soon, for the first time since September! Whoever's taking over, it can only be an improvement.

But I hope they're gonna do something about the decor! Based on the photographs I've seen it's bloody horrific. Looks like it's been thoroughly vandalised.

With any luck, it'll now cease to be "JDs Burger Co" and become The Market Vaults again.

We ended up there last Thursday but I was rather drunk, it didn't seem terrible

The sticker wall in the little snug area is pretty good. Quite liked sitting there spotting the different characters, especialy the few Totorro characters dotted about it. I hope that this is kept.

The "graffitti mural wall" is absolutely shockingly sh*te.....why that was decided I don't know? Perhaps dodgy Daves idea of turning the place into a New York themed pub?

heya ho, the regime has gone....onwards and upwards!

    I suggest you pop in.
Little has changed since September apart from the stickered snug.
Still a great place for a beer or two or three ...and a burger.
