Cheeky so and so.

Our group consisted of one very trendy 32 year old gorgeous blonde, her equally gorgeous trendy blonde mother and a not very glamourous, very average middle aged woman. (me)

It was myself that suggested the Swan, and the others who wanted to go to the PH.

There are lots of places that are too trendy for me but hey, why should that stop me?

sorry if i offended, i didn't mean to imply anything of the sort! i was just saying that, within my circle of friends, referring to a place as a "crèche" meant something different to chris's inference, so was offering an alternative interpretation..

i am sure that you and your chums are all very glamorous and would be more than welcome anywhere :heyhey:

So no booze license and no entertainment license for 4 weeks? I've never heard of a posh BYO before!

funnily enough, i just received an email from them (i'm on their mailing list) which included the now ubiquitous take on the "Keep Calm..." slogan in the form of:

i was most confused as to why they were asking me to bring my computer along (BYOD), until i realised that "D" in this instance must mean "drink" lol..

i hope they get the troubles sorted, whatever they may be.. say what you like about the post house, but at least they are trying to provide something a bit different for stafford (e.g. hed kandi nights, posh nosh, etc.).. i've been a few times now, and always really enjoyed it.. we only ever had a problem once, and that was sorted out in a very thorough way and we all left happy, so it would be a shame if the place did go under :(

Agreed. Hell of a cock up though, especially as most people are now planning their work xmas meals and may be worried they wont have things sorted in time. 4 weeks is a long time to close a bar down for and expect all the people to return, although maybe the BYO bit may tempt a few people in who were wary of prices before?

EDIT: Just realised all the barrels will go off if already opened, that will be costing them. Can't help wondering what sort of administrative error would put them out of action for a month, can't they just hire someone with a license?

Can you still use alcohol in cooking if you don't have a license? not 100% pertinent to the Post House, just wondering..

I've also often wondered about mouthwashes, some of which have over 25% alcohol and are effectively crème de menthe substitute. If a minor was to buy mouthwash in a supermarket, would it be 'flagged' at the till?

I was once asked for ID in Sainsburys when buying cough sweets, I was around 20 atthe time but the lady thought I looked like I was 15 or younger.

It's the premises license they need to get, not the personal license. a place that size probably has one or two if not more people with a personal license but without one for the premises they can't serve alcohol.

Ah, got ya. Was being a bit thick there, people don't hold an entertainments license either! Do these things just expire then?

That also explains what went into drinks like 20/20 that were all the rage in the 1990's

Business (not quite) as usual.

Wednesday, 16th October 2013

It’s business nearly as usual !!!

Due to a technical administrative error the company (The Post House Stafford LTD) is having to apply for a new premises license in order to serve alcohol. So for the time being if you are attending The Post House for a restaurant meal you can now bring your own alcoholic drinks.

During this time we’ll be adjusting our opening hours a little, however we’ll keep you updated on our website and with signage around the building. In the mean time don’t worry, we’ll be open throughout the day to serve all our delicious breakfast, lunch, dinners and bar snacks that you have come to enjoy. Please don’t forget we do have a wide range of non-alcoholic drinks and wines so please come and give these a try.

Until further notice we will also be unable to have a DJ at the weekends so things are going to be a little different around here.

We hope to have this situation resolved by mid November and we ask all our loyal customers and friends to bear with us in the meantime. Your favourite day and night time entertainment venue will be back to normal as quickly as possible.

See you soon. X
