The Post House, Stafford

The Post House - 12 Months on...............
Hello Stafford forum................we are FINALLY here and we are listening !!!

Thank you all for your kind and constructive comments it's wonderful to hear all your views. I see we have caused quite a stir amongst the forum with over 400 posts and over 30,000 views. One of the hottest topics on the forum !!!!

I would love to comment on all 400 post but I feel unfortunately the time has passed now for my comments to be relative when we are 12 months down the line. However I see clear themes throughout the threads that I would like to address :

- Stafford
- Prices
- Security
- Chef's and food style.
- Invite

StaffordMy family has been present in Stafford for over 120 years. WE ARE STAFFORD PEOPLE and there is no other way to describe it. We have invested considerable amounts of money in Stafford Town Centre and we have done this for a reason. We have done this because we are proud of our town and we want it to thrive and be one of the best in the area.

During the 3 year planning, design and build process we specifically chose as many local contractors as possible. Just a few examples are shown below:

Groundworks - RSJ Builder - Rising Brook
Windows & Doors - Stafford Windows - Baswhich
Joinery & Fit-out - Joyce and Reddington - Cannock
Painting and Decorating - Rugeley
Glazing - Quality Glass - Stafford
Audio Visual - Big Picture - Walsall
Stairs and fabrications - Made in Metal - Cannock
Carpets - Dudley

These contractors and many many others were specifically chosen for one reason and one reason only......to help support our local Staffordshire economy.
The businesses we used and continue to use employee your Granddad's , Nan's, Mums, Dads, Sons, Daughters, Niece, Nephews, Grandson, Granddaughters, Wife's, Husbands, Friends and Colleagues. Our entire investment in the centre of Stafford has created work, jobs, income and lively hoods for all these Staffordians.
In addition to all this we currently provide jobs for over 50 local Stafford residents.
For those who say our business, investment and our future is not based around Stafford I very strongly disagree.

Prices. We have conducted hours and hours of surveys and competitive analyse on our prices. I feel our offering is of exceptional value and we as The Post House are very pleased so many customers regularly enjoy all our offerings.

We offer an up to 50% off 2 courses meal deal in the day. Our coffee is up to 30% off when purchased with a pastry. Those of you with a Stafford Town Centre Partnership (Enjoy) card can also enjoy further discounts and offers on a monthly basis. As a thank you for spending with us our loyalty reward scheme also gives you 'points' which can be used as discount off products at a later date.

So if you are enjoying cocktails with us, indulging in Afternoon Tea, Dining in Pillar Restaurant, socialising in Red Bar and Club or getting married in The Post House Suite you can be assured you will be enjoying premium products and services for exceptional value and prices.

Security. As with every late night venue door supervisors are used to maintain the safety of customers within the venue. From time to time door supervisors will need to stop people coming into the venue or remove people from the venue. This is done for the greater good of everyone and may have to be done when individuals become too intoxicated or who are endangering the safety of others through their actions. Many of you mentioned we had too many door supervisors and their presence was over-powering. As we had no way of telling what kind of numbers we would attract we felt it far better to be safe than sorry. Since then we have refined the use of our door supervisors and your comments on the forum along with other feedback has made this happen. Thank you.

Chef's and food styles.I also notice a lot of comments regarding Chef's and our food offering. It is true that our Head Chef that we recruited has now left. Since then another Head Chef has been appointed. Initially we begun our food offering with a fine dining edge. After your feedback on the forum and comments we have received in house we have now tailored our offering to suit our core customers. So in our Pillar Restaurant, on the 1st floor of the building, for just £25 per head you can enjoy a Starter, Main, Dessert and Wine. In addition we have also run offers for £12.50 per head including scallops, fillet steak and wine. TRULY AMAZING value and certainly one not to be missed.

Our Bistro which can be found on the ground floor opens daily and we offer a selection of teas, coffees, cakes, scones, snacks, sandwiches, soups, salads, mains, desserts and much much more.

InviteLastly I would like to invite you all to a special Stafford Forum night. I will be hosting the night and I would like to offer you a free glass of prosecco or an orange juice alternative. The night will be held on Wednesday 19th December at 7.00pm till 8.00pm where I will be more than happy to take you on a tour of the building and discuss any other queries you may have. Please private message me if you would like to attend.

Again I apologise it has taken so long to come back and interact with you all. I hope you understand it has been an incredibly busy year for us but as I said in my opening line...... "we are here and we are listening...." See you soon.

Daniel Foster.

Sounds good to me! If all goes to plan I was hoping to book a meal mid week so it will give me something to feed back on. :)

That sounds interesting! Good luck with the following year, despite much moaning nobody wants to see a buisness fail.

What an excellent introduction to The Forum - welcome, The Post House Stafford! :D

A very well thought out first post; it shows that you have clearly pored over the comments and feedback that is already on here, and aren't put off when reports aren't necessarily as shining as one might hope. I have every faith that, if you continue in this vein, you will enjoy a fantastic relationship with our members and in turn see an increase in interest from our little corner of the Internet. :)

Chin chin! :stafford:

Welcome to The Forum, I nearly thought you were saying you had aged to a very young 120 in just 12 months! The joys of Catering & the Hospitality industry, please don't try and compete with me on the spelling front!!! Forum members are quick to pick up on both spelling & grammar, ahhhhhhh! :) just check out my past spelling mistakes :-(

Anyway - I personally believe Stafford is a far better a place with The Post House & it is only with quality independent operators that gives us an edge over other towns, what a poor town we would be without the likes of The Soup Kitchen, The Grove & Pastiche to name a few. Our high street would be far more prosperous with more shops like Blacks Menswear, Parkers, Peter Rogers Photographic, John Woods Florists etc.

From our perspective at The Swan our guests look for a varied choice of restaurants & bars to add to their stay & night out in town, so a little more choice in Stafford is welcome (but not too much!!)

Good luck on your second year, we look forward to some healthy competition & a prosperous Stafford, which has to be good for everyone.

Kaboom. As per the posts from ChrisLewis over the past X months which relate directly to what the people of Stafford do & don't want, that's a great post.

TBF, one of those moaning about security was one Colossal - and if your doormen refused access to him, they are obviously quite 'on the case'.

Can I ask why when you opened you werent looking to appeal to the people of stafford and was looking further afield, were we not worthy? What changed? Profits?

TBH if I ran a posh restaurant I'd want the people with the money to come too! Unfortunately I have neither a restaurant or money! :P

Fantastic stuff - I have been so thrilled that someone has had the balls to take a punt and invest so heavily in Stafford Town Centre during the worst downturn in living memory, you should be thoroughly congratulated on all of your hard work. The Post House truly gives "something extra" to Stafford, I know people who now come here from further afield just to visit. Everytime I have been I have had great food, great service and the decor is simply fabulous. Keep up the good work.

I think they're looking to appeal to the people of Stafford that are looking for more than the 'two for a tenner' scenario.

Thank you for such a warm welcome. All your comments are kindly received.
PeterD nothing has changed. The information that you have been given was paraphrased and misquoted and was therefore incorrect. I do hope my post above explains our commitment to Stafford in much further detail.
Franklin_Delano_Roosevelt and ChrisLewis I couldn't agree further with your posts.
How many mince pies do I need to buy for Wednesdays Stafford Forum night? Please private message me if you are attending.
