Enjoying a drop of red.
Planning application in to demolish and build 6 3 storey houses, unsure if its flats or houses. As I live by I was notified by post. Little information on the planning website.

I originally read that as 63!!

Which even by modern standards would have been on the small side in the space available.

Building an open sewer would probably be the favoured option of the former pub regulars, to give the place continuity.

Good point does look like 63, will edit it.

As far as I know this pub and the cottages to the right were owned by Marsdons. The lot were bought by a builder a few years ago with the long term intention to keep the cottages but demolish the pub and redevelop.

I went into this pub once.

It was once.

It was around Yuletide sometime in the Noughties, and part of a pub crawl that seemed even at the time to be without any kind of rhyme or reason. There were only four of us, and i'm not sure any of us actually wanted to be there, i know i didn't. The whole situation, i mean, not particularly the Princess Royal.

Though the Princess Royal was something of the 'straw that broke ...etc'

We went in through the 'back', into that strange 'lounge' area affair that was incomprehensibly absolutely rammed - so much so that there was no place for us to sit.

An 'An American Werewolf in London' style hush was almost physically apparent as we did so - i can only think of one other instance of being so instantly unwelcome, and that was in England as well - so we made our excuses, and our way, to the bar.

Which was illuminated by MASSIVELY BRIGHT strip lights. Like being in your kitchen BRIGHT lights.

In a Pub.

It was enough to put you off Yule entirely.

I'd be massively surprised if it had changed in any way since, though i'm not exactly anyone's target market.

The lounge was built on the site of the brewery.

I have drunk in there also on a pub crawl around the Marston Road area. There were quite a few pubs back then which were nicely arranged in a sort of triangle for such. Peel Terrace, down the Marston Road, back up to the Hop Pole. If you tried hard you could do in 10 million brain cells on that run. :heyhey:
