I believe that I may know the current (or a recent) owner, they may be able to confirm some of the history, as a result of them purchasing it.

It may take some time to report back...

The brick building in the photos looks interesting. Could do with maps other than the 1901 OS map, which throws up a number of interesting features. I believe that Stafford Record Office holds copies of the 10ft/10.56 feet to the mile maps for the borough, should show a lot of detail.

All goes to show that you can't trust a brewery about anything. Wolverhampton & Dudley (or rather a representitive thereof) assured me that when they acquired the pub they demolished the original brewhouse and built the lounge bar on the site. :soz:

The Cottage used to get a lot of Lotus Girls in it when the factory was up and running. Ex Commando and SAS types would go in there .... AND NEVER BE SEEN AGAIN !!! :urgh:

I have seen the plans. Six 3 storey houses with one car parking space each. In all reality they would be a welcome addition if it wasnt for the parking which is already an issue.

The chicane formed by the island at the end of Freemen Street and the almost constant car-parked-on-the-corner-by-the-Chinese does give an added interest on townward journeys now - especially when you are having to assess the potential skills of people exiting Victoria Terrace lefttwards - just how far across will they actually come?

Pub reported to be open last night, and the people in the pub reckoned that they were there for at least five more years.

The refused application has now gone to the Secretary of state for appeal.
The developer is also responsible for the current construction going on in Victoria terrace. The plans for them included parking. That parking doesn't exist.

Indeed, the developer already went against his plans for the houses he built in Victoria Terrace so be interesting to see what these plans actually turn into in reality. As yet no minutes from the planning meeting.
