Grand opening today - 27/5/16

Thought I would pop in to have a nosy this morning once the mad rush was over .... the mad rush was still on!

Seems to be quite a few offers, lots of things are cheaper than elsewhere, but there's also a huge amount that's far more expensive!

Popped in earlier as I was in Greyfriars anyway. Struck me as the usual sort of tat but it was very busy so didn't browse for long.

I can see it being successful though.

It's the kind of place you go in, not really needing anything.... and coming out with at least one thing.

Seems to me to be a cross between Lakeland, Hobbycraft and Homebase. I can see it being quite popular, for a while at least. So many staff about too, can't see that lasting though once the initial interest has waned.

I quite liked some of their canvasses on the way in. Drove past KFC today and there was an ad-truck for The Range parked up on the KFC car park.... seemed a bit out of the way but I suppose that was their intention.

Just been back there to buy the child some of those shoes you can wear in water (can't remember what they're called) Every size except hers & why are men's/boys a £1 cheaper? Their feet are bigger! Not fair. :(

It was there at 8.30am this morning - dragging customers away from B&Q and Argos I guess....

I went to the opening at 9am Friday and found a large crowd of people hanging around the car park barrier waiting to go in. I wandered through them and up the steps where there was a photo shoot taking place with the Mayor and The Range CEO, a Mr Chris Dawson (sporting a deep tan, large gold cufflinks and described in one business article as 'a real life Del Boy' with a net worth of £1.65 billion). A minute later everyone was allowed in and I found myself, quite unwittingly, at the head of the queue being presented with a voucher for a potted plant (value £4.99).
I would describe the store as a kind of uber Wilko's.

Too many people and small aisles probably better waiting until the fuss has died down a bit

Had a mooch around today, quite impressed with the range of homeware and craft stuff - certainly on par with hobby craft for a lot of stuff.
