Staffordshire's Oscar winning film gets its television debut tonight. The Radio Times describes Staffordshire's countryside as "idyllic"!!!

We recorded this earlier and have just watched it.

Wow.

We thought it was brilliant.
Heart wrenching, mesmerising, emotional and thought provoking.

I can totally understand why this won an Oscar.

I watched this film with my profoundly deaf daughter who is now aged 35 - tears in my eye and an emotional lump in my throat. I was amazed at such a wonderful but sadly accurate film which is heart breaking. Seeing the little girl come alive with sign language then seeing her excluded from the world again showed the ignorance and stupidity of the hearing parents.

When I asked my daughter if she ever felt like that when she was growing up she said no because you always included me mum and told me what people were talking about. She said that she was lucky to have a family that were deaf aware and learnt how to sign and that made her childhood happy and the fact that we didn't treat her any different to her two hearing brother made her the person she is today.

Then the tears started rolling down my face and I gave her a big squashy hug.

Thank you I have had lots of hospital visits to Birmingham and London and started some new projects in my life - I'm back looking at the forum for information+ guidance on Stafford and back to a great forum that gives support - love and humour
