Are there many vegie options on the menu there?

Ta...looks like there is an option of 1 maaaaybe 2.....as I said, a particularly fussy vegetarian....

Just seen this and no, there aren't many options at all. I've been there a few times to be honest, it is fortunate that I am a particularly un-fussy vegetarian. As long as it doesn't contain meat, fish, or gelatine then the chances are that it will be much better than anything I have cooked. That said, it is unusual to have quite so little choice on such a big menu.

I suppose it is better than broccoli bake. I won't mind if I never see another one of those as the half-hearted vegetarian option from a pub that doesn't see why we can't just eat chicken. My poor husband has seen so many broccoli-bake inspired rants that he now checks on booking: "Can you cater for a vegetarian without resorting to broccoli bake?"

We used to use The Badger and when the owner moved to The Smithy, the only thing that changed was the decor. The menu, with the exception of a couple of items have been the same for years. I've found the food at The Smithy to usually be nice although last time we went as a table of 4 we had problems with two of the meals and our complaints weren't handled well. I also think it's a little pricey and The Smithy only has a 3 for its food hygiene rating.

Agree it's a bit pricey but with the limited choice in Eccy now that the quality has dropped off so drastically at The Oak we reckon it's worth it. Rather pay a couple of quid extra and enjoy than penny pinch and not.

Smithy again Saturday night, really good food. All six of us happy with what we had.
Mixed platter starter brought forth the comment "Oh, you not bothering with a starter then?" Ox Cheek was outstanding.
