The sports thread.....

Thought i'd start a thread for discussion of anything sports related. I like sport, no wait, I love sport. I hope others do too then hopefully we can have some topical discussion, maybe even a debate over current sporting issues.

I'll start with the forthcoming England football international being played this Saturday against footballing minnows Macedoniasthan at Manchester United's huge old trafford stadium. I myself shall be going along to show some patriotic support and was wondering what other peoples score predictions and thoughts on the game were?

I myself am very much looking forward to seeing firsthhand the partnership between 'big man with a nice touch' Peter Crouch and 'please score so you can shave that ginger beard off' wayne rooney. I think crouch is a wonderful talent and a real threat to opposition defenders. Some may say that with gaining a regular start for england he has taken his career to new heights.

As for Wayne, such a prodigious young talent should be nurtured. His fiery streak is part of the young liverpool boy's nature and to try and contain that would take away something from his game. He really could do with a good performance on saturday and hopefully a goal. I know form experience that scoring goals is a confidence thing and hopefully he will be able to tap into that rich vien of form with a goal this saturday.

My score prediction: England 3 - Macidoniasthan 0

My prediction is 2-1. I think England might hit a bit of a post-new-manager-inspired-high slump. They'll carry on winning, but not in as spectacular a fashion as they did initially under Stevie Mac (or Sir Alex MII, as I like to think of his red-faced visage).

I hope I'm wrong and we tonk the minnows 12-0. It's all speculation anyway innit? Anything can happen.

I'd love to see Rooney score, even though he's already shaved the beard off anyway, as besides anything else it'd raise his confidence for when playing for the Red Devils.

No, but seriously, this is in danger of turning into a footie team slanging match. In a diplomatic fashion, can I just say that I respect all other football teams in equal measure (except Chelsea and Arsenal).
