How did you escape?
I had some straw hanging out the side of my mouth and pedalled quickly. The others in my group weren't so lucky...

Yes, sorry about that.

Same year as I got my Trident. Shown here outside the garages at the bottom of the Rec. The Trident was a classic Triumph Engine with another cylinder stuck in. It had a 120 degree throw so after a certain revs it started to howl and you'd better be interested in Astronomy, because you spent most of your time looking upward.
Wrote it off on the Uttoxeter Road in 1975, not far from Chartley Castle. Broke my heart at the time ... (and my collar bone just for a laugh. )

Found this pix (again) of the Silkmore Lane School Coronation Party. I am in this picture (cough) but for reasons of state security I cannot reveal where.

Also it should be noted that the person on bottom row, extreme right (pissed as a Newt) is NOT @Gramaisc .. at least there's no evidence to say so. :P:heyhey:

I'm now on a daily dose of four 'powerful' hormone pills. Today I saw and decided to read the leaflet that came with them, (it's quite a big read,) explaining possible side effects of this stuff, and to call in if I notice any of them.
The pilot in this clip is me reading the leaflet ....... :heyhey:

Today I saw an email from some holiday firm offering me a luxury holiday in Dubai !!

My experiences of Dubai are joining or leaving a tanker by launch either entering or leaving the Gulf. I've got as much desire to holiday there as I have of pooping a pineapple.

This is my Mark One barometer.

The Ash before the Oak, we're in for a soak.
The Oak before the Ash, we're in for a splash.

I figure the Oak is ahead of the game at this point, and we haven't yet seen much of a soak for weeks.
I know it's a bit binary for weather prediction, but I don't want to forecast a dry summer because we've got some pretty nutty farmers around here, and they're already in 'going up the church tower with a good rifle' mode.

I'm quite worried about how dry it has been. If anyone can say this isn't climate change then I'd like whatever they're smoking.
April is generally a fairly dry month - quite often, it's the month with the lowest rainfall throughout the year. But it does seem to be getting even drier in recent years.

200 miles west of you, we have had 15mm of rain in the whole of April, and most of that on just three individual days - today, we have the first rain, that you would bother to even stand inside for, since Tuesday of last week.
