... , further to my aural chiffchaff, an actual, visual martin, or possibly a swallow, looked tail-wise more like a martin but was a bit too far away to be sure - an hirundinidae of some sort anyway.

And hawthorn leaves.

.. a pair of ducks crossing the A34 by the Waggon and Horses - the chap in the 4x4 behind me didn't seem to appreciate me stopping to let them across, thus delaying his highly important arrival at McDonalds.

2 ducks sat outside the waggon and horses. Someone has put bread and water out for them, which may not be a wise move if people are less considerate than G.
I stopped by the wagon and horses last year for them several times, they seem to live/nest somewhere near Fatsos, then walk across the 4 lanes of traffic to get to the marshes behind Homebase...don't understand why they don't fly over there?!
