TRAFFIC WARNING: DOXEY RD & SAINSBURY'S

Andreas Rex

Banned for smiling
To add to the congestion caused by the closure of the Newport Rd, it seems that the usual flooding at the entrance to Sainsbury's carpark has now closed the ENTIRE carpark! No cars are being allowed onto the carpark at all, and thus there's a huge tailback up towards Doxey. I'd advise anybody thinking of driving into town to forget it for today!

Also beware:

Silkmore lane, by the Co-op; a bad un there.
A513 going down towards Milford, some ducks paddling in the road there last night.

This was the situation down by Tesco's this morning, avoid if poss:

oh for god's sake - there's a dam in sheffield/rotherham that is about to burst, which is situtated right next to an electrical sub-station.. if it does go, i lose all power, so i will be stranded at home with no TV, no internet, no music, no food (cooker/hob is electric), etc.. plus the M1 is closed from J32 to J36, and my entire village is pretty much cut-off, so i can't even escape to stafford (which was originally my contingency plan if things got too bad)..

Feckin' pulled the bottom trim off the front of my car yesterday going through a flood, dunno if it was the one on the A518 near Amerton, Weston Road by new policia place or the usual flood plain of (guess) Sandon Road. I drove down the Doxey road this morning and everything was fine. I come back and there is a flood. Weather news this morning said we have to expect another 10 days of intermittent rain :o and :o

Just talked to the chaps and chapesses at the Station and the concensus is that is nearly as bad as 2000. Bob (ha, ha, yes really his name!) reported that he has been permanently encased in a dry suit, and has had a number of swimming opportunities, rescuing people and stranded animals! I am going out on my bike to survey the devastation.

Status at 2am:

Doxey Road closed twixt EoO and the Castle Tav.
Tenterbanks/Mill Bank is under about 2 feet.
Queensway still open but getting worse.
Baswich Lane closed by St. Thomas Mill bridge
Silkmore Lane closed between Meadow Road and Exeter Street.
Sandon Road - business as usual (ie. closed).

Today has been murder in the taxi business. Around 5pm it was taking about 2 hours to drive from Castlefields to Baswich.

I hope all you lovely Castletown people appreciated the extra attention you were getting and people realised that your area was the only passable route to Doxey.

If you're travelling this morning (Wednesday) beware of the above.

Tony. Your friendly taxi driver (yes, there is one in stafford).

Just driven through Stafford as I have just been training someone over in Tamworth. Wolseley is now a complete lake although the roads are clear. Loads of folk at radford bank admiring what used to be a marsh and is now a reservoir. I have to agree with coobeastie, town is going to be nightmare tomorrow. Sorry Castletoon folk but I may have to use this as a means of getting to work

This is why the park is flooded. Makes sense to spend tonnes of money on the park then ?
