I've gone past this building for years now, but it's only just struck me how ugly it is. Can anyone better it ?

conversely that building is my favourite in Stafford, because although it was previously an off license and remains labelled as one, at christmas the window is turned into a nativity scene. I get a laugh out of that every time I walk past, unfortunately I don't have a picture of the scene, maybe someone else does? They took it down recently, there's just straw left now.

They changed it at Easter - the original nativity scene was just a manger full of hay with a quite funny (I thought) sign that I can't remember now....

You have to understand that Stafford has a policy that involves demolition of any building with more than a hint of aesthetic appeal and heritage value, while keeping anything that's ugly and decrepit. This brave and novel approach ensures that we lose the Brine Baths, Station Hotel, Baswich House, Carnegie Library, Brooklands School, etc, but preserve the worst of late 20th C eyesores, exemplified by the magnificent Riverside BC edifice, a monument to mediocrity.

All excellent suggestions above. The building I most dislike is Santander and Boots in Market Square. I also hate McDonald's and the building next to the theatre bar.

I need to stop writing this post because I could go on forever on the ugliest buildings in Stafford. What were the planners thinking?

A few more ugly buildings - the former jobcentre building, super drug and the new Pandora shop.

We need to bear in mind that even the High House was very nearly 'lost', on safety concerns - it was largely the result of activities by Derek Holt and his associates that saved it from being 'improved'.
