Must be getting old, I only know a few of them. As for getting old, I see Download is going a bit old skool this year :D
I will admit to knowing 23 out of 31. Does that mean that I must, therefore, be younger than you?

I've been every year since 05, but might give it a miss this year. I'm not a big fan of Oasis, although MGMT are headlining at the same time, and The Killers are the only band I want to see on Sunday, but having seen them on Friday I don't think V would top it... It's pretty much the same line up it always is really.

Got my tickets, i'll be there although not the greatest line up especially since I have tickets for Oasis in Manchester which i'll now have to sell.

Oh well....

a rather eclectic bag for this year's V a number of them could be deemed headline acts by themselves. I'd hope they've reduced the admission price to show solidarity with the large number of attendees who may be feeling the pinch right now.I've wasted a few chunks of my life at these jamborees in the past and always came away feeling let down hoping 'the next one will be better' or hearing 'ooh should have been at such and such' Personally i find these events boring, overated, poor value for money in fact a complete rip-off and i'm now feeling angry with myself for ever attending one these festivals, still i suppose we all go through a sheep-like phase and mine ended a few years ago .......

Its not really my scene either, for a start I can't stand whingey, winey miserable music which is pretty much all you get these days at these events. I much prefer electronica festivals, cream, sound system, global gathering etc. and you tend to find less kids at these events too.

The other problem with these events is they are purely commercial, and I guarantee not one single one of the organisers or anyone making money from the event even likes the bands who are playing, they simply look at who's going to draw in the crowds of cash-cow sheep drones and then book them. Can't blame them, they're in business, but it makes for a pretty poor festival.

Look what happend to Glastonbury :(

Think I'll stick to Shambala this year, and possible creamfields in the summer if I can be arsed.

You'd have not formulated this opinion had you not been, so I guess its been an experience at least. I'd always prefer to try something once and dislike it than spend the rest of my life wondering "what if".

any more non-sheep-like-people?.....
Guess that makes me a sheep then?

Surely its just a lot of people who enjoy music... ok so its not to everyone's tastes but then everyone is different and the world would be sh1t if they weren't?

I happen to quite enjoy V Festival, I go with a bunch of mates, we all have a laugh and enjoy some good music...

:?: :?: :?: :?:

Thats the same as when we go to global or shambala just with different music / stalls / theme etc. I guess you could call the global followers sheep too. I think the reason we have so many different festivals, because everyone has their tastes. Overcommercialisation does my head in though, i think its why i love shambala so much!

well gk141054 you must be a young un to have such a simplistic view of life... mates, laugh, music , because that's how i was before i became so cynical,bitter,twisted,.. see what happens when you leave the flock and make a dash for freedom.....

wanna see my snake?
I've always treated festivals as a camping trip that happens to have live music. Sure I go and watch the bands, but its more getting wasted and having a laugh.

FPMSL, I love you for calling me "a young un" :D It even makes up for calling me a sheep earlier ha ha.

Tek Monkey's post above sums my thoughts up nicely.

I would be quite happy trying out most festivals - i'm easy going. Dance / Hardcore / Rave isn't my type of music (anymore) so don't think i'd try global or the like but if people do like that sort of thing then good luck to em.
