So the privatisation of the NHS continues apace and my Dr's will no longer cover essential vaccinations such as Diptheria. Does anyone know anywhere I can get this done in Stafford please? Appears that our Boots doesn't do jabs. I'm angry that should I catch some horrible disease the NHS will treat me for free but won't pay the small amount to prevent said disease occurring. Anyways, if anyone knows where I can get a diphtheria jab locally I'd be V grateful. Thanks

But if you catch the disease you may get treated privately under the NHS umbrella, so someone gets to make money from your misery.

We want a few 'extra' jabs for Eric, due to the frequent visits to Eastern Europe, and were told to call Stoke hospital.

A short stroll for you, if they're still doing it and this isn't out-of-date info.

Haven't the majority of GP's charged for these types (travel) of vaccinations for years? 🤔

I don't know. The last time I needed diphtheria to go to Russia it was free. All the travel jabs I had pre covid were free, cholera, typhoid, hep a etc. I think Yellow fever was chargeable but I never needed that.

It's standard as a kid but boosters are needed when going to certain countries.

Apparantly they only do their own patients.

As an aside they had a long telephone queue this morning so this might be useful info if anyone is thinking moving there!
Never worth calling, they deal with people there before the phones so better to turn up as the old people from next door queue for appointments.

Try Asda pharmacy. They do flu & other jabs & have been good when we’ve used them. Got to be worth asking.
Thanks. No mention of travel jabs on their website.

Frankly I'm finding this whole situation a disgrace. I despise the Tories and everything they are destroying about our NHS. Stafford is so shite I can't even pay for a diphtheria jab anywhere :(
