Throughout a big chunk of my life I have been involved in various aspects of the entertainment industry, I've gained several contacts from different entertainers themselves to entertainment agencies and such like. I've ran my own disco & karaoke, called bingo at sea-side resorts and in-land clubs as well as being part of a management team, been shortlisted as second place for a karaoke compare at a popular Blackpool venue, released doves at weddings and now operate a photobooth alternative.
As you might see, entertainment is actually "in my blood" more than I usually admit. Because of this, a constant thought that has been in the back of my head for years is whether or not I could pull-off a local event with advance ticket sales, offering a bit of something for everyone all in one night. A bit like a not-so-royal variety show! I've imagined having something like five short 30 minute performances from acts such as
Female Vocalist
Male Vocalist
Duo
Musician
Magician
Comedian
The acts could be spread across the night with intervals between, and a limited number of tickets sold to keep the venue undercrowded as I'd like everyone to have tables to be seated comfortably at.
Or are you the kind of person that would prefer an 80's gig with a band, or a tribute act? etc etc.
This isn't yet another business venture as it stands and I'm not even saying I'll remotely dream of attempting it, but just wondering what people generally think about something like this.
What would a reasonable ticket price be for such a night?
Is it the kind of night you'd potentially be interested in?
Would it be better with relaxed clothing rules, or should it be more "dress to impress"?
Would it better suit a higher ticket price with a meal included?
Yes, I know there's all sorts to consider including security, financial outlay, risk etc etc. but as it stands I'm just seeing if anyone else gets my vibe about this.
