Virgin speed update

If you go to 200 meg , you need the sh2 ac router/modem to handle the speed better or the new white one .
Heard the white one is bad for gaming pings though.

Remember , its an "up to" service so if theres a lot of users in your immediate area your speed maybe lower .

I think most internet speeds are upto and also dependant on the traffic, but i have been with Virgin Internet for years and the only time i had a problem was when they rolled out there 50MB, i think they have learned from there mistakes.

Are they improving upstream yet? I need at least 15mb so fibre was the best option when I last changed.

I am not sure but it would not suprise me if they dont increase it, i get my new router next Saturday so i will run some tests and post back.

Excellent, thanks. Seems mad that they can't compete with fibre at anywhere near the same price point.

upload speeds are increasing for all except the top pack which will remain at 12mb

Thats me out then, I get 74/17 on fibre and pay under £25 inc line rental. Virgin used to be the cheaper option but lately they just aren't competitive for what I need, I know I am in the minority in actually needing upstream but I was hoping if they do 200 down they'd have at least moved to 20 up.

Virgin don't care about upload speeds. I've asked their Twitter team many times about it and they have told me it's not a priority and that people only want fast download speeds.

Always assumed virgin would be the best option

Had been a Virgin customer for over 10 years but no way I could go back now, bt all the way.

I won't change to BT or anyone else. BB speeds are quoted at 4-8Mb download where I live and BT say fibre isn't available in my road.

I have always been with Virgin Media, i think there internet is second to none, and there speed is also second to none the upload is not very good but most customers wont care about that and personaly i manage with it.

I always used to be with them, since the days of comtel in fact, but they just don't meet my needs anymore. Its a shame they don't offer an uploaders package as well as the huge DL speeds most people also don't need!

Hi i thought i would check to see if the free upgrade was available in my area yet, it is but it is not automatic because you have to order new equipment, so anyone wanting there speed increase might want to check here https://keepup.virginmedia.com/speedupgrade and follow the instructions. Maybe you only need new equipment if your goint to 200mb i am not sure.

well after this post I checked it out and applied for the 20 mb
upgrade from my usual 50, just checked tonight and I'm on
70mb, no problems at all, I still think it's too much to pay though,
I wish i could get BT infinity on Coton fields.

I was upto 70mb last night and 5mb Upload - pretty happy with that... considering how much hammer it gets. (2 laptops, a desktop, multiple smartphones, tablets, Xbox One and 360 usally going all evening)
